I'm 12dpo and so far have BFNs. I don't think I'm pregnant, but I'm still hoping. My LP is usually 15-17days...so I have 3-5 days before AF shows up. So...I guess there's still time for a BFP. And I'm not sure if my temp dip this morning was accurate...I woke up freezing.

Anyway...I have a follow-up Dr appt for my broken foot tomorrow morning. I'm not sure if he's going to take an x-ray or not (this will be my 4th appointment in the last 9 weeks and I've gotten an x-ray each time), but I have to decide just in case. 2 x-rays ago I was 3dpo and I decided to have one and risk it - of course I wasn't pregnant as it turned out. My Dr. is very understanding and has talked to me at length about the risks as he know we are TTC and leaves it up to me....but has also told me of the importance of knowing how my fracture is mending and he believes the importance of the x-ray outweighs the risks. And, his wife is currently pregnant and he said he would feel comfortable with her having one. DH just leaves it up to me.

So I'm torn...should I have another x-ray? If I get a BFN tomorrow (and depending what my temp is) I'm thinking I will. But then there's always the chance that I still could be pg.....And if I get a BFP then what???

What would you all do? I of course don't want to take any unnecessary risks but it's also really important that I know the status of my fracture because I don't want to risk any damage to my foot and hinder my walking.

I really hope it will be a moot point and he won't even want another x-ray...but I want to be prepared.

You could always have them put the big heavy thing over your stomach while they do it. Thats what I always do.

i agree with shortcake! (love that name, btw!) Anyway, yes, they should offer that to you if there's ANY chance you could be preggo.... you're safe if you have that over you... I work for an ortho & the xrays are very important to assure proper healing, so yes, i'd do it! You don't want to be preggo & end up with another break!!! THAT would be terrible!

Yeah, they did that last time. Actually, the x-ray tech put 3 large ones (chin to calf) on me plus a small one tucked up in between my legs. I felt really protected. But there's still that scatter radiation that they warn you about. I think I'm OK with it but then I also think it's an unnecessary risk...

Ok... In Aug when I was preg... and had a CT (before I knew) My doctor said to me... do you know many (100's) of women every month have x-rays before they knew they were pregnant, and go on to having healthy pregnancies... I also had the lady in CT say to me.. we have about 5-10 a month.... Ladies who have CT's and call saying they are pregnant now. can it hurt thier babies.. CT scans equal 100 chest x-rays...

I would agree with Katie.. have them sheild the belly.. But the risks are low.. HUGS

If you tell them there is a possibility, they will double you up with those lead skirts... so I would get the x-ray, personally. I've had to get chest x-rays when I was possibly pregnant and they would double me up with those lead skirts or jackets.

It's up to you hon it's a tough choice to make

I agree with using many many lead aprons. I think the risks to the baby when you use those are very low. Do you know, even into the 80s they gave pregnant women regular xrays to look at the baby! So, many many very pregnant women have had xrays and were fine. I know it's a tough one though!

Are they going to do the x-ray where they make you stand on the little box and take the x-ray that way? Thats what my doctor did for me when I broke my foot. If so, wear the apron and you should be ok. If he knows you are TTC he wont do anything to risk the possible health of your baby.

I hope you get good news and get to take your boot off!!! I keep mine in the closet to remind me to be careful when I walk
