Have you thought about getting the Vaccine? If it is made available to you will you get it?
I got mine tonight. I would have got it anyway since I really should due to my job. But I wanted to make sure I got it before I was pregnant (Wishfull thinkng, I know) So this way I don't have to wory about getting while pregnant.

I don't think I will get it. I had a reaction to the flu shot twice so I don't want to chance it.

I will get it too, once Im out of the 2ww. I need too, Ive had pnemonia twice already this year, due to radiated lungs. So, Im extremely high risk. I missed the regualr flu/pnemonia vacc. twice already due to being sick. Now, everyone in my office is getting it again, and its probably swine flu at this point. They are not even testing for antibody anymore due to how many people have it right now in my area.

I really wanted to get it before I got pg again but they are out here. Now, I am in the 2ww so we will see. If I don't get pg this cycle, I really hope I can get it in November.

I'm getting mine Thursday (the nasal spray) as long as whatever my sickness is hasn't progressed to to fever or totally blocked nasal congestion.

I got it here as soon as it was available (last tuesday). With our trip coming in the height of it all I decided it was best to be protected while walking through airports and spending hours and hours on a plane.

I am not getting the vaccine. There is too much talk about people getting really bad side effects from it and I don't think it's been tested enough. I'm not a fan of vaccines in general and don't take the regular flu shot. Who knows what we find out years down the road these ingredients inside the vaccine have caused. I've been doing some research and have decided against it. (btw this is not meant to start a debate ) I think everone should do their own research and decide what is best for them. But right now everyone is in a panic and the media and government is using scare tactics. There are so many more deaths from the seasonal flu every year. I think they should spend more time to figure out the link between those individuals who have died from H1N1 to figure out why it's happening to those individuals and not to the others. There has to be a link... Maybe some meds they took...maybe they don't have tonsils anymore....maybe they were deficient in a certain vitamin... It could be anything, but I don't believe that it's a coincidence. There have been so many mild cases as well. KWIM.
Sorry.....didn't mean for it to be so long.

I'm not getting it. I had a reaction to the flu shot while pregnant with Sierra and nearly lost her. I went into labor with her at 4 1/2 months. they had to stop my labor constantly for the next 4 months. I decided then and there that I would NEVER get another flu shot.
With that said.... the vaccine wouldn't do us any good anyway. We've already had H1N1 here anyway.

I have been planning on getting it but as I'm currently now sick, and got the seasonal flu shot, I'm thinking I might actually have H1N1 right now! My doctor apparently isn't testing for it, so I won't know for sure. Of course, it's horrible timing because I should have O'ed already but I think actually it's postponing my O so might still catch it, though I won't be too worried I don't think if we don't. Kind of worried about conceiving when sick anyways.

Well...looks like we won't be needing to get the vaccine. I just took Isabelle to the walk in clinic, because she all of a sudden had a high fever and was coughing so badly that she would throw up. The dr. said it was H1N1 and gave her tamiflu. Just great! She of course threw up the first dosage I gave her. Now he didn't do a swab to confirm, but he did rule out strep throat. I think I will take her to the ER tomorrow morning and see if they'll do a swab. I have to get an x-ray for her chest anyway. Just hoping none of the other kids get it.

I'll be getting it but not for a little while. We seem to be in short supply up here and I think it's important for those at higher risk to get the shot first. Hopefully I'll get mine in the next week or two.

Trish I hope Isabelle Feels better! HUGS!
I know here in the states.. they are not testing for the N1H1. If you have the flu symptoms they are just saying it is N1H1.. Since it is not flu season yet. And even doing the Nasal Washings and the Rapid Flu,... If it comes back negative... It does not mean you do not have it.

They are not testing here in Canada either. Same idea - just treating it like you have H1N1 if you have the symptoms of it.

I am getting the shot on friday because I have asthma and that puts me at higher risk of ending up in the hospital if I do get it. I have heard of people in my town that have it and a coworker of my husband's tested positive for it last week. They must be testing for it in certain areas and not in others - strange.

Just came back from ER and you girls are right, they are not testing...just assuming it's H1N1 and treating it as such if you have flu symptoms. She also has bronchitis on top of that, but is doing a bit better today. My dh is starting to feel sick now though. So we are all quarantined for 7 days.
