Well my blood work from this morning is back. I was tested at 7dpo to see what my progesterone levels were at and estrogen. The RE's office likes to see progesterone levels on a non-pregnancy cycle (non-medicated) at 20. I really thought that was a bit high myself, as almost everything I have read has shown a level of 10 being a good number for a good ovulation/egg. Well my level was 15 ! I FEEL that is an adequate number no matter what the RE shows for his bench mark. He feels that a non-medicated woman that is pregnant should have a level over 20 for early pregnancy. My three other dr.s told me anything over 10 in early pregnancy is sufficient to substain pregnancy. When I went on progesterone with my loss in April, I had my first level at 12.5 and my second level with the supplements at 26.5. My dr. then told me anything over 25 medicated, was good.
I will go into a more lenghty conversation with my RE at my next appt about this, but just wanted to share/ and see if anyone had any knowledge on this subject.

I'm not sure what is good, but my level when I was not pg was 12 and I don't think the dr. was happy with that. Hence he put me on progesterone supplements. When I was pg with my second m/c I asked them specifically to test for progesterone, cause I was worried that this was my issue and my level was at 46. I hope that helps a bit. I think I've heard that anything over 7 showes that you have O'd.

Thanks for replying Trish. Im not sure what this dr. will do, but either way, Im ok with supplements. I just felt like 15 was pretty good, showing that my egg had more of chance of being a healthy egg v's an "over mature" egg. Usually when the p4 levels are very low, that shows a "weak ovulation" or "bad egg". So from what I have read, a level over 10, usually means a good ovulation. Maybe not high enough to the RE's, but they are specialists and obviously have to have a higher standard if they want to get their patients "knocked up!"

So glad your level was 15. I have heard that is a good number. At least you are getting the information. Thinking of you.

Amanda, would your dr. think that was a good number for "un-medicated" or natural cycle?

Well, he considers anything above 12 successful (regardless of medication) so that's what we are aiming for every cycle. Now, he's an OB, not an RE.

Im beggining to see the difference between the two, real quick. I guess they are the experts and as such, want better results. But, I was happy with those numbers myself. I was expecting way under 10 for some reason..
