Hi ladies!
Sorry I have been absent a lot lately....the flu really took a lot out of me, and we missed BDing in my O time this month, so I've just been down so honestly didn't want to read about others' excitement about TTC. But I'm back now!!! I'm 99% sure I'm in the TWW even though FF has refused to give me crosshairs! Anyways, my OB's office just called. I had talked to them a little over a week ago about a referral because of my MTHFR mutation and I want to be on aspirin and posssibly Lovenox during pregnancy. I started the aspirin already, btw. My appointment isn't until January 18th!!! They said that was the first available...I am PO'ed!!! What do I do if I get pregnant in the meantime (which I really hope would happen?)??? I know there are some of you girls who have the mutation as well, though I know there are differences. What do your doctors say? Unfortunately, despite being a pretty good-size city, Fresno only has the one perinatologist. I'm just so scared that I would get pregnant and have another loss before my appointment. I guess I could just call as soon as I get a BFP and tell my regular OB to put me on Lovenox....I give it to patients all the time so I know how to do it. OK, sorry, I guess I just needed to vent as well as I need opinions, thanks ladies!
Also- can y'all stalk my chart please?? Thanks!

I think you O'd on cd22. Maybe you will get crosshairs after a few more temps. I can't give you any advice on the rest, but I can completely understand the frustration of having to wait 2 months to see the Dr. If you get a BFP in the meantime hopefully your OB will help you out with the Lovenox.

Jacque... OK help refreash my Brain... MTHFR.. Which mutation do you have, the
A1298C or the C677T and are Homo or Hetero....
Depending on which means alot.. Most Drs... will not treat this without MULTIPLE M/C... and even then it is a fight. As for the baby Aspirin... Make sure you bring this up with your Dr.. Even though it is Aspirin.. Taking one a day even a baby can increase your risk for Stroke.. and other side effects. You need to have a Homosistine level drawn... If the levels are not elevated... They feel than your Mutation would not cause the M/C's... do I agree no.. But treatment.. will remain a baby aspirin if it is not contridicted in your care. All we want is answers... and it sucks.. Their is not cut and dry answers.... HUGS.. I hope you get answers.. I hope you get your Lovenox... My Dr has only just started to mention it since I went to a Hematologist (that I know from the Hospital and wrote a letter to my OB) HUGS to you for what we have to go through!!

Thanks Krystal! I guess that's my plan....and if I have to, I work at a hospital so I can possibly convince another doctor to give me a script for Lovenox, LOL.....

I have two clotting disorders and three miscarriages - and I just went through SIX doctors to get a script for lovenox. It was a nightmare, and it's not over yet. I know the biggest thing with MTHFR is folic acid, and that's why not a lot of doctors go down the route of lovenox so easily. It just depends on the doctors and their opinions. There really is no proof one way or another that lovenox helps women with clotting disorders, unfortunately. Even with my script (Which was for a hemo and only covers the first month) I still need to find an OB and Peri to manage my care once I use up the script... and I haven't been able to find one yet...
So.. I guess is bottom line, keep talking to people and doing your research. See as many doctors as you can, and keep trying!

Thanks for the encouragement, ladies!!! Kary- I am homozygous for the A1298C mutation, which from what I've read, is less severe as well as there being a lot less research about it! We'll see....keep your fingers crossed I get something accomplished (like a BFP before then that sticks!!!)!!!

Jaque that is what I have... And trying to find someone to treat it... has been hard. They want me on a Baby Aspirin. But since my homosystine levels are norm. I am at no higher rate of a blood clot. As for invitro... the Hematologist could not give a clear answer..... He sent a letter to my OBGYN.. saying that he would do my dosing of lovenox if that is what he choose to do with me. I have only talked briefly to my Dr about it. But until I get a BFP he just wants me to stay on : One baby Aspirin. A Prenatal, extra folic, sublingal B 12. KUP! If you ever want to talk PM! HUGS
