I am so pissed right now! My hcg levels are in 6. Progesterone levels were 4.2. When I talked about getting testing done to see if we could get things figured out the nurse says "Well, I talked to Heather and she was thinking we should phone you in a prescription for birth control pills for the next couple months." First off I will state right now I am Catholic. I do not believe in hormonal birth control. Secondly, even if I wasn't Catholic how does birth control do a **** thing to prevent miscarriage or even investigate what is causing it. Because I have 6 kids I am afraid that switching doctors will not do any good and they will all blow me off. I have an appt on Tuesday with Heather and depending on how this appointment goes will determine whether I stick with them or find another doctor's office. I really like this office and that just will upset me more to find someone else. I don't even know how to go about finding someone who will listen and care. If we can't have more kids I can deal with that, but it upsets me that if there is something that can be done to prevent this from happening again I want to know. I am not looking into or pursuing fertility treatments. In my circumstances I do not feel right about that. I mean if God is telling us it's time to call it quits then I can deal with that, but if it something that can be preventable then I would like to know that. I think there is a difference between me asking for fertility assistance and me asking for assistance in not continuing to miscarry and I do not think that it is too much to ask to have some baseline tests run. I have two children with type 1 diabetes and they have both had their thyroid tests come up off before. I think it would be reasonable to check my thyroid function and to check my FSH levels. I am also concerned as to why my progesterone levels keep coming back so low and what is causing that. I was using progesterone supplements, but obviously that didn't do any good. Anyhow, missing my 4th angel today. Really hard to accept that I have had 4 losses.

Oh Teresa... I can hear the frustration in your post. HUGS... I had to go through my family doctor to have my Thyroid checked... I look at the extreme some of go through to have basic testing done. It kills me to know so many ladies can't get answers... Yes I know sometimes thier are no answers. But can't they try? Draw some blood work, run some tests, try to have justice for the angels we have lost? I am so sorry that you have to go through this... HUGS. It is not fair. Let us know how the next appt goes.

I know that there be no answers, but I just don't think it's unreasonable to ask for some basic tests. I am not expecting a whole bunch of tests, but some basic checks would at least make me feel better. It would at least make me feel like I was doing something.

I'm so sorry Teresa. My opinion is that if you are not happy with your Dr. then find a new one. I wish I could. You deserve to get some answers...even if that answer is we don't know...at least they tried to help. I hope the next appt. goes better. HUGS.

Teresa, the way you are being treated by your doctor is just not acceptable. Fertility and miscarriage are complicated, but some basic blood work might give you the answers that you and your dear little angels deserve. Perhaps the progesterone supplements aren't cutting it, and you need injections instead? Suggesting birth control instead of testing makes ZERO sense, and I would be livid about that as well.

I'm so sorry that you are having to go through all of this, and I hope you get someone to listen to you and help you very soon.

Teresa I am so sorry!!!!! What an awful thing to say that you should go on bcp. WTH..I would have told them off. I think it is very reasonable for you to ask for some tests to be run. I know you don't want to, but I would definately consider changing doctors. HUGS!!!

I will say it can be hard to get your thyroid checked in a lot of places! I def think you need that checked in your situation plus I glanced at your chart... your temps are kinda low... that's a possible indication of hypo too. I'm hypo too. You def need to get it checked.

Teresa I'm sorry that your Dr. isn't listening to you. I definitely agree that there is huge difference in finding out why you are miscarrying and fertility help. Obviously you can get pg and it's reasonable for you to do everything possible to stay pg. Definitely keep trying until they listen!

OK Teresa I am back now. I responded to you about the thyroid in your thyroid thread. I have Hashi and have been around the block a couple of times with some of my previous doctors (especially with the celiac)

The audacity of the office to presume something so personal as a birth control prescription. They have no right! Your children are loved and taken care of and it is NO ONES business if you want to go for a 7th. I don't know why people can assume that your losses are lessoned because you have 6 living children - they cannot realize that you loved everyone of your children that day they were concieved and that you grieved for each one.

The Doctor's office should have taken this approach: HMMM - something has changed in the previous healthy young women that has carried 6 children to term, maybe we should investigate further.......

OK - vent/rant/etc. over. I am so sorry for the inconsiderate nature in which you were dealt with today.

HUGS.

Kat.

I am so sorry the dr. would make such a suggestion as bcp!! I would definitely try to find a dr. that would support you. The amount of kids you have is none of their business, and if you want to have more, I think they should investigate why it is you continue to have losses. I'm so sorry about your fourth loss.

It doesn't matter if you have 0 or 20 children, your doctor should be listening to your needs. They don't always have the answers we want to hear, but it doesn't sound like this Dr is being proactive at all. I am sorry for your losses and that you are going through this. ((Hugs)) You are a very special person.
