So I was woken up a little while ago from a phone call from my OB's office. Background: A couple weeks ago, I had called them and wanted to discuss being on aspirin and possibly Lovenox due to my MTHFR mutation (I am homozygous for the A1298C mutation). The OB there I spoke with (not mine) said it wasn't usually necessary while TTC, but because this was a "gray area" he would refer me to the perinatologist who would know more. So, I got an appointment for Jan 18th. So, today, one of the MA calls me and says that this perinatologist's office called and they want to cancel my appointment. They said all my lab work looks fine, I don't have thrombophilia even with the mutation. I'm like, um, well then why does all my research on-line and in medical journals (at work) indicate studies showing I should be on it???? The MA of course had no idea so she said I should hear from my doctor by next Wednesday. I am so angry and upset right now, I started crying on the phone! I mean, geez, people, do you just want me to have another loss and THEN you'll figure something out? Sorry ladies, I guess there's kind of no point to my post but I just needed to vent! Thanks for reading!

Jacque... What you are going through is NOT unusall.. I am like you Homozygou for the same mutation... When I have spoke to my RE, MY OB and the Hematologist.... all they say is stay on the baby Aspirin. And an increased dose of Folic Acid. I have added B12 on my own. I TOTALLY understand your frustration. But Unless you have that secondary mutation OR elevated Homosystine levels.. Finding a Doc to treat you with Lovenox... will be hard. A baby aspirin yes.. It you have the C677T.. you would have better chance of getting more done.. But even than... you have Most doctors.. thinking this is NOT the cause of miscarriages..
This Article I found.. and my Hematologist brought up both sides.. his stand point is one of unknown. He said he will follow me and treat me with Lovenox... BUT only if my OB or RE decides that this is the best course to be taken with me. I have had THREE back to back losses... IS this the reason... WHO knows.. All I can say it is FRUSTRATING!! And the have the Grey area they all talk about... WELL GD IT I want black or white NOT GREY...
I wish I could tell you a clear cut Sentance to tell your Dr that would change his mind to treat you, how you want. HUGS...

Thanks so much for your support, ladies!
Kary- It's so helpful to have someone else who has the same mutation, thanks! My homocysteine level was normal- I asked. I will ask around about a hematologist at work and see who is good and call them. I knew the Lovenox might be pushing it, but I at least wanted to be able to discuss it and not be completely blown off! I wonder if I feel more irritated because I'm a nurse and I understand everything that the articles say and everything....hhm, not sure. Well, I will keep y'all posted, and I am continuing on the aspirin.

You know Jaque... I think you hit it on the head.... With being a nurse you see these lab results... We know that their is something wrong... We know that the treatment is something that is within reason. I have to give Lovenox every night I work, I have to monitor my patients for clots, and yet I have to sit here with my "mutation" reading coutless websites/webpages... on how to treat a mutation that apperantly it "NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT". Since your homosytine level is normal and you have no secondary test coming back showing anything.. YOU have no increased risk of clots.. but like my hematologist said to me... Invitro? WHO KNOWS.... Well if that is the case just put me on the GD Lovenox! At this point I want you to treat me aggresively, I want to give my baby the best chance. Can you just give us that???
