Yay!
1)How DH and I met:
DH and I met at Boston College in 2004. I was hired as a lab tech straight out of undergrad while I decided what to do next in my life. DH was a grad student in the same lab. We were friends for a year or so. We had totally opposite life styles but a strong physical attraction. We'd always flirt at work, but I kept a distance since I was dating someone else long distance. Besides, he wasn't my type. AT ALL. About a month before DH defended his thesis, my BF devastated me and disappeared. In an effort to rebound, I came onto DH, knowing he had liked me for a while. I knew he wouldn't want anything serious either, since he was leaving town after his defense. So I thought we'd "use" the opportunity to have a fun no strings attached relationship. Well, much to my surprise, it ended up being more than a fling and we really fell for each other on an emotional level. If you had told me when I met him that he'd be my husband, I would have thought you were on crack! But here we are
four years later!
2) Holidays -
DH and I are taking a vacation on Thanksgiving. We did the same thing last year. It's a good opportunity for us to pin another city on our travel map and we desperately crave that ability to experience new places together - alone and away. We aren't really holiday people either, but I like the opportunity to see my family because they live in another state. So - we'll spend the Dec. holidays traveling East. I definitely can't wait to spend time with my sister. She's one of my most favorite people and I miss her a ton.
Keep the questions coming!

Childhood memory - My sister's birth. I was eight and my mom had me watch. It may sound odd, but it was really cool - and one of the best days ever! I got a sister!
Childhood movie - I can't remember when I was real young, but I was always fond of Aladdin!
Book - Most recently, my fav that I read over the summer was The Red Tent. Loved it.
Movie/actor - I am from Massachusetts. I will always love Good Will Hunting and Matt Damon. But I also really love Sean Connery and First Knight!
Car - I own an 05 Nissan Altima because it's reliable, but my love will always be for VWs!
Hobby - Middle Eastern/Belly Dancing - Cabaret and Arabic styles. I've been dancing since I was 18. Unfortunately, between being pregnant and miscarrying so much this year, I have been able to do it. My body just can't keep up and my muscles are starting to forget what they used to be good at.
Anything else?

If you didn't have to work and had your days completely free and could do anything...what would you do? How would you live your life of leisure?

If you could drop everything and travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Enjoy watching any sports (if so, which)?
P.S. I read The Red Tent a few years back after a friend recommended it and loved it too...I think she's got another book out but I haven't tracked it down yet....

Pets - No pets... I'm not home enough.
Fav Animal - Not sure! I like dogs, as long as they're not mine. I like butterflies too (technically in the animal kingdom!)
Relax - My fav thing to do to relax is probably cozy up in bed next to DH and read, or snuggle on the couch and watch movies.
JM - I spend so much of my "spare" time on this board (read as during commercials or between experiments), that I hardly have time to visit other boards. Coming to this board for so many months has always been bittersweet. I hate to see new ppl joining and old ppl coming back. I guess I come here because my fav thing is the love and support!
Life of leisure - If DH had that life with me, we'd travel. Everywhere. But we'd spend at least a month or so in each place so that we could really enjoy being with locals. If DH had to work... I'd probably spend my days volunteering and writing? Learning new languages? I like to work actually! I'd be so bored at home alone! But it would be nice to not HAVE to work!
Travel - I have a thing for the Middle East, but I've only been to Saudi and Egypt. I'd definitely travel to Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Morrocco... etc.... and dance and drink tea with women in each country. I love to hear their stories.
And although there's sports on our tv pretty much every time I walk by it, I don't enjoy watching them in the least! I don't mind going to live games, but I can't pay attention on the tv. I just REALLY hate sports. lol. But as a good wife, I'll listen to my husband prattle on about football, baseball, and basketball every single day for the rest of our lives.
Good questions!

Favorite thing to play on as a child: swings, slides, monkeybars or merry-go-round (or something else)?
Love scary movies or hate them?

Child - When I was a child, I wanted to be a teacher and a writer. And a Mom.
Job - Right now, I'm a graduate student doing my PhD in Biology. I'm entering my 4th year. Though technically I'm a student, I don't really take much for classes. I get paid for doing research towards my degree, or by teaching. I probably have another 2-3 years before I finish...
Typical (work) day - Get up at 6am as DH rolls out to teach HS. Take the bus to work and get there between 7-8am. I do research in the lab most of the day. I'm teaching this semester, so sometimes I'll have student meetings/lesson preparation/teaching. But most of the day is spend at my bench doing science! Usually I'll have a seminar to go to too.. on all kinds of topics from cell biology to development. I get home around 7pm and I'll eat dinner/exercise and unwind with DH (books/internet/tv) until 9 or 10 when I'm in bed! The day flies by and my brain usually hurts by the end of it!
Fav characteristic about myself - I like to help people. And I like to listen. I think those things help me with the next question -
Friends - I am blessed with one or two very close friendships from each era in my life. I definitely prefer that to a multitude of acquaintances.
Playground - Definitely loved the monkeybars!
Hate scary movies! I get nightmares!

retire - I should probably say a house by the beach, but I think that would only be true if it were in another country. If I stayed in the states, I'd probably want to live in Boston again. I miss home and I really really love that city.
fav food to cook - honestly? nothing hits home like a grilled cheese! but i also like to make lentil soup and koshary (An Egyptian lentil dish)!
fav food to eat - thai curries! I can't make them well, but I love to eat them!
Everywhere I've been is great for something different! But I guess my favorite place I've been for a "life experience" is Egypt. The city of Cairo itself is big, busy, and dirty- but, the people are fantastic, and I really have the most touching memories interacting with people there, which I'll cherish forever. It's really hard to pick though...
Where do I want to go? Everywhere? I want to do a tour of more of the Middle East. But I need a long time for that. Top destinations for the near future would be Greece, Istanbul, and more of Spain. I need suggestions on places to go in Asia... it's a long trip, so we haven't though too much about it yet.
