I triggered at 4pm and got my smiley face at 8:30pm. I think I would of gotten it no matter what by midnight or am, but at least I gave my eggie a few more hours of not growing. I also got my faint pink line on the hpt, proving how fast that hcg go's into the systmem....Wow, that was interesting. Lets pray that I get a real bfp in a couple of weeks.....
My E2 level was not quite what they wanted yesterday, so I did not trigger my eggie to come out, even though it was perfect size. So, this morning I went in for repeat u/s and b/w. Eggie looks good, fully grown and my E2 level went up dramatically, given me the high end of good. (250-300 is perfect, I am 297) But.........the dr. decided to change his mind last minute........Says he wants to see one more cycle of how my levels are by themselves, how the ovulation went on my own. Do not trigger, do not have sex, lets wait until next cycle.
Im like "***?", I told the nurse that i have been actively trying this cycle, because the dr. never said anything about not trying this cycle. I explained to the nurse that I dtd this morning, and If I surge on my own tonight, Its to late anyway. She said, "well the egg did not come out yet, so if you dont have sex tonight or over the weekend, your chances are low anyway", I was not about to argue how long sperm live, 24hrs prior to O is the best time to conceive, but Im no dr.
So my egg is ripe, if I let nature takes its course and it does not come out till Sat, then it will be over ripe, again.
Im taking the shot, I have it hear, and I will not lie to them next week at my u/s and bw appt. How can they expect a woman my age and with my FSH levels, to just wait one more cycle? Everything is perfect as for my levels, and Im not waisting my egg!!!!!
I know Im high risk for m/c again. I know the dr. probably wants me on something to make my egg quality better, but I cannot take this out of Gods hands. Maybe, just maybe, I will get lucky. No one can tell me if my egg right now is a good one or a bad one. No expert can tell me that. If I dont get pg, then its just another cycle that I can handle. If I dont do what I can for the possiblity of a pregnancy, I cannot live with that. If I do get pg, and loose it anyway, than its just another bump in my journey. at this point, I have to take what I can and pray for the best.
Sorry this was so long, Im emotional today. He just blew me away with his change in plans....

I can relate Lori. That's how I felt at my Dr's appt last week. I know it's not the same situation, but when my Dr. told me to not have sex (and I was in my O window), to just wait, to see what test results would be (and that I needed to lose weight), well, that's just unacceptable. I'm with you - if there's no pregnancy, no problem then, if I do get pregnant then it's out of my hands anyway and all I can do is hope for the best. I just don't think putting things on hold, especially when you are right on target for Oing, is an option! I say do what's in your heart. I think sometimes Dr's only think about the situation as science, as a problem to be solved, and they forget about the human element. I think that some of these Dr's, no matter how good they are or how good their intentions are, forget that we are crazy women who just want to get pregnant!!! Let him walk in your shoes for a cycle...I doubt he could resist triggering himself either!

Thanks Krystal, your input made me feel better. I did the trigger just now, and whats done is done. If I get pg this cycle, I have MISSY123, to be ever so gratefull to, as I went back and forth with this and she said the same thing as you too. Now I just have to think of a good excuse to cancel next weeks b/w. I dont think they will check hcg, I think its only progesterone and estrogen, but with my luck they will see that I took the trigger and "disqualify me" from their practice!

No practice wants the FLU bug around Thier is your "OUT" for the follow up blood work.. I am glad you did the trigger.. I would have done the same thing.... I think any of would have went "ROUGE" ... and used it! That is like giving a child candy and telling them not to eat it... YEA RIGHT!!!! I hope this is your cycle.. and you catch that egg!!!

You girls are the best, I was so torn, Im not the type that breaks those kind of rules, ever. I think after having breast cancer, it caused me to live by the books, but this was eating at my gut like no other gut feeling. I really needed to here you guys say you would do the same. I mean if the E2 levels were off, if my progesterone levels were off last month, I would of waited. But to have such excellent numbers and then be told to just wait one more month, was not an option!

YAY! I'm glad you used the trigger. The doctors really have no understanding as to what we are going through. However, IMO if they were in our shoes they would be doing the same thing. I hope this egg sticks and you get a sticky BFP! And I think next week you had a family emergency and have to cancel your appointment.

I think any one of us would have done the same. Your numbers looked good, your egg looked good, why not?! I like the flu excuse for getting out of your bw. I hope this is your month for a sticky bfp!

Lori,
sorry I am posting late here, just read this. I don't know if you read what I wrote to Krystal when she posted a similar issue before, but I am going to post it again here. I was TTC, having recurrent cysts in '07. OB sent for U/S to see if cyst was gone. Tech said a new egg is about to pop out right there on the screen, OB had said no TTC for 2 more cycles. DH and I decided when do you EVER get to see the egg right about to pop out??! So we TTC that day just once, and we did get pg, and now I have Owen. Don't always listen to the doc, do what is in your heart. I would not have my little man if I had listened to her.

That was so encouraging, thank you for your story. It is those gut instincts that women just have to act on. I pray for a happy ending like yours, but if not, I will never regret not doing it this way. Thanks again!

Lori, I did the same thing on my last cycle, I triggered a couple of days before the nurse told me to. Guess what, when I went in for my bt they didn't even check to see if there was any hcg in the system, so they didn't know that I had already triggered. I was also worried about the egg being over ripe, which it probably was anyway on cd10 at 24mm.
You are absolutely right to go with your gut instinct. Hope it turns out a BFP for you!!! They can't expect us to just waste a cycle..that's crazy. Sending you tons of baby dust!!

You go, girl!
I'm sorry, doctors can be idiots.
My OB told my sister not to TTC for 2 months after her m/c. She had sex 2 weeks later and got pregnant with my now almost 5 year old nutty nephew. He was mad at her.
He told me not to for 2 cycles, I had a D&C so that makes sense to me...but OMG if God doesn't want us pregnant, he won't let it happen! And if he wants us to, he will! And you will never know until you try.
So good luck!!!

I would've totally triggered too if I were in your shoes! The doc didn't really give a good enough reason to wait so just go with your heart. If he/she would've said, "Hey this could be dangerous" or something along those lines then I would've held off but there wasn't a legitimate reason to wait.
Fertillity medicine is more fo art than science right now, I know because I just watched a 2 hour conference on how they choose the "healthy" embies in IVF. The doc admitted himself that choosing "healthy" embies using symetry of cells hasn't proven to make a better sticky bean but the docs continue using this method because...well...they have been using this protocol for so long they don't know what else to use. This doc has used what looked like "junky" embies and the numbers are the same for "healthy" appearing embies for impantation and successful pregnancy.
So some docs continue to use protocol that has no statistical enforcement because "that's the way we've always done it."
