It started with the typical height/weight/bp. Then the nurse took me into doctor's actual office where we discussed the irregular cycles and my losses, etc. He never once mentioned Endo or PCOS, but did say right off the bat that we'd do bloodwork. I then went back into the exam room for the physical exam. He said that other than a tilted uterus, everything physically seemed normal. He had me get dressed and then we went back into the office to make sure there were no more concerns from DH and I. I must say, I was really impressed. I've never had a doctor's office allow so much time and be so willing to talk to me. After the second consult came the bloodwork. That did not go so well. She tried the left arm first and missed. She then went to the right arm and used a butterfly needle. She was able to get two vials of blood but she was moving the needle around the whole time. Therefore, she messed the vein up and stopped getting blood return. She ended up sticking me again in the left arm (with a butterfly needle) and wasn't able to get anything. Finally she gave up and told me to come back Monday for the rest of the tests (6 more vials).
They are testing my Thyroid. He thinks this may be what's causing my irregular cycles.
He said something about the possibility of my hormones not doing what they are supposed to. So they're looking into that.
They are testing for clotting disorders.
They are doing genetic testing.
They are also checking for Rh antibodies to determine if I need the Rhogam shot now or if it can wait.
He did say that there is not a cyst on my ovary (though, I swear it feels like there is). He said that he doesn't think I have any long-term effects from having an infection years ago that went undiagnosed for a year. He said that it's main effect is tubal blockage, but since eggs are getting by...
Overall, it will be a couple of weeks until I hear anything.

Well, glad your doctor took the time to talk to you and wanted to address your concerns! Sorry though that they couldn't get all the blood- hope it's successful on Monday and KUP on all the results!

Augie, sounds like a good appointment. If your worried about a cycst or tubal issues, you should ask him for a u/s to just take a peek in there. I hate it when we have those intuitions, and never further the investigation. It would be nice to sleep at night knowing all is well in there and give you a piece of mind while ttc.

It sounds like a great appointment! Do you have small veins? I do and they have such a hard time taking blood from me. I usually have to get stuck a few times to get blood drawn. I hope all of the tests come back perfect and/or you get some answers!

My biggest thing with the cyst is that it's painful. I get that cysts are common. But I don't they commonly get big enough (and painful enough) to keep most women up at night. Of course, he said I don't have one...though the pain is in the same spot as it usually is.

I do. I hate it...maybe that has something to do with my needle phobia...knowing they'll miss, dig, and try again.

I get cycsts alot. Mine are usually 3-5cm. Very painful, and I have had some burst on me before too. Up all night is not even the word, I have been on morphine for them. the good news is that they go away by the next month on their own. I would be concerned if the pain persisted every month in the same spot. My sister went in and hers was the size of a grapefruit. Be careful and follow your instincts.

Mine have never been measured, but they have landed me in the ER and on pain meds. I've also had one rupture in the past.

Glad the appointment went so well. I used to be terrible at getting my blood drawn. If I know I have one coming I load up on water, it seems to help some. Sounds like a really great DR. I hope you get some answers soon.
