I have a friend who works in a tattoo shop.. Well he drew me up a really nice tattoo exactly what I wanted for remembering my losses, and he has me scheduled right around the 20th of December to have the tattoo done.. Now I am getting it for free as a Christmas gift, but either I will be ovulating or already have ovulated and could have the possibility of a fertilized egg.. My question is do you think getting a tattoo then would effect anything? I just thought about it today and I am wondering. I wouldn't think it would hurt the baby if I was since I wouldn't have even implanted yet. What do you think?

I have no experience with tattoos, but I with you on this one. I don't think it would do any harm. Hopefully someone else can be more helpful though!

It sounds like a beautiful and meaning tattoo. I'm not sure on the timing either, but like mentioned, going over to the tattoo forum and asking might get you the best answer. I hope you can get it

I don't think it will harm it. The tattoo parlor would know for sure or the tattoo mommies board. I hope you are able to get it and post pics when you do .

No, getting a tattoo at an o phys or at the beginning of egg fertilization will not harm the baby. They recommend that when you are preggo that you don't get a tattoo because your body's immune system for healing from things like tattoo's is lowered - it's not that the ink is harmful. The ink is injected into the second layer of your skin and doesn't got below (ever the 3rd layer) so it doesn't get into you blood stream.

Sounds like a wonderful thing your friend has made/done for you - very special!!!

My husband is a licensed tattoo artist that works in one of the premier shops in VA...
no it will not effect it and actually you CAN get tattoos while pg because the inks have come a loooooong way since Sailor Jerry times. However tattoo shops generally will NOT give you a tattoo once you have a confirmed pg. However Lindsey you will be fine, it will NOT effect anything at that point because it wouldn't be attached by a placenta and there is nothing to cross blood streams. So go ahead and get that memorial tattoo present love :wub and remember those babes
