Ok so I have posted this same thing over on the Pregnancy Loss just to update the girls, but I thought it was time to post here and ask for opinions or advice. To sum up my history first pregnancy Oct 09 ended in a m/c and I requested that my midwife check my progesterone levels as everything started to happen. I have a cousin who had 3 m/c before a successful 1st time round of IVF which resulted in triplets. What my question is, is she tested them the 23rd of Oct which was 2 days after I m/c. The numbers were 1.4 which obviously is low for pregnancy, but is it low for 2 days after my m/c? She wasn't too worried about the numbers where they were at. I have to go get my levels checked 1 wk before my next period which means I will probably get it done like the 14th. She says if they are the same or lower she will put me on progesterone until my period arrives and then when I get pregnant again the first moment I think I might be she will restart it. If the numbers are higher than before she will just wait until I am pregnant. Sorry if this is confusing but I had been meaning to post this for a response Thanks!

I'm sorry for your loss.

I think that it's hard to say if your levels are normal or not since you had just had a m/c. When they check your levels @ 7DPO you will know for sure if you have low progesterone.

I guess another of my questions is doesn't low progesterone levels affect AF? Like you would have longer cycles or such things? I know I had asked on one of the boards about getting your period doesn't necessarily mean you ovulated but I thought progesterone also did odd things with AF? Maybe someone here will be able to answer or have an idea.

Some dr.'s argue whether you have a m/c because your progesterone is low or your progesterone drops because the pregnancy is coming to an end. I am not sure what my progesterone was after my first m/c, but I had it tested when I had my chemical and the day before the m/c my hcg was 8 and my progesterone was 32. So yours does seem really low, but that could be normal. You could ask to be put on supplements from now on just to be sure.
HUGS! Sorry to hear of your loss.

First off... I'm sorry you seem so frustrated.. I linked a a few links below.. Levels need to be checked... and even when you are and are not pregnant.. when the levels are low.. it might not be because you have a progesterone problem..it might be because the pregnancy is not viable.. so the pregnancy is not producing progesterone the way it should. This is a sticky situation. I had one early loss, I had a loss due to chromosomal.. (progesterone was normal).. the third loss... my levels were not rising, and progesterone was low.. So what does all this mean?? Who knows.. But my doc after three losses.. has told me to start progesterone.. Will this help me? Who knows.. But with the last pregnancy.. I held onto it longer than nature would have let me.. If I wasn't on the Prgesterone.. So what did it accomplish? So I will start on it this cycle again.... So just know when you and if you start on it.. it is not a fix all.... If that is even the problem.. HUGS

Mmm, it doesn't sound low to me since it was following a miscarriage. If it had been while you were still pregnant it would be low but since the loss had already occurred I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Generally low progesterone will cause a short luteal phase (the time after you ovulate and before AF starts )

If your LP is shorter than 10 days it can signal a progesterone issue.
