If you have read my blog you know that I have decided not to sit by and wait for my OB/GYN appointment which is not until Feb. I had been doing some research and asking some questions and found out that acupuncture had helped some people I know. The suggestion was mostly for infertilty but also helped with miscarriages so I called the guy who was suggested and went to the first appointment.

He asked about 100 questions. I didn't really feel like I gave him much to go with but he told me, with complete confidence, that he has never lost a pregnancy of a habitual miscarrier who was in his care. So that gave me a good feeling.

So after the 100 questions he took my pulse. First he did my right arm, then my left and then finally he took the pulse in both arms at the same time and told me he was putting me in a "hold" just in case I was pregnant. I had told him earlier that there was a possibility of it so just in case he thought it was best to be prepared. Anyway, I go back this week and if I am pregnant he will be "aggressive". If I am not, then he wants us to wait 2-3 cycles while he works to rebalance me. This was my first brush with chinese medicine so I can't remember everything he said but he has a plan and so far I trust it. He did tell me to test early so that if I am pregnant we can start his plan as soon as possible.

So after we talked for over an hour he put about 10 needles in (one in my head, one in each arm, about 3 in each leg and one in my sternum) and I laid there for half an hour. Then he took them out and I left. The needles didn't hurt but they did feel weird. I could sense most of them the entire time (not the one in my sternum and not the ones in my legs).

Also, I told my doctor I am doing this and she didn't have an opinion. But it did make her want to run more tests. She is sending DH for an SA and me for CD3 blood work. I also did a CD21 progesterone test this weekend. Funny how me trying to find my own solution is making her want to work harder to find one too. I will keep her updated on anything the acupuncturist does as well (at least in terms of herbs).

That's my update...will keep you updated after this week's appointment (wednesday).

That is wonderful that because of you searching for answers that she is going to. It would have been alot better if she would have done it to begin with but at least she is going to know. Hugs! I hope that this works for you and you get your sticky bean!

HUGS! I tried acupuncture too. I'd like to go back again, but its so pricey for us here. I like how the acupuncturist listen to me... more than any doctor has listened to me. Glad you're finding things to try, and doubly glad that the doctor is pushing a few more tests!

Acupuncture is pricey here too but both DH and I are covered for it in our benefit plans with work (to a set maximum $). I am not 100% sure if my plan will allow this kind (some restrictions on it being treatment for "medical illness") but DH's doesn't have that clause. Thankfully its December and both our plans reset in January so we will have a new limit to spend come Jan 1.

If your insurance takes care of even part of it, I'd totally take advantage of it! My friend's been going for months, and although it hasn't helped her yet physically, it's been emotionally a blessing for her and her anxiety is getting a lot better. I wish I could go again, and I'm considering it. Insurance doesn't cover that stuff in western PA. It's so stupid.. but it's the way it is. My first visit cost me over a hundred dollars (with the herbs)! I'm trying to think of how I can finagle a way to go again now that we're actively trying again...

I never tried accupuncture, but have heard good things about it...for all sorts of things...pregnancy, and mc included. (my mom goes to see an accupunturist for her arthritis in her knees) From what I have heard, it is very successful. that makes me excited for you Michelle!!!
