Okay as you know, my prescription pre-natal is supposed to go up in 2010 to $75/month! I refuse to pay $75/month for a vitamin so I talked to the RE & he said basically to find a generic pre-natal at Wal-Mart & take that but here's my dilemma... I'm trying to decide between a plain pre-natal (Amazon.com: Spring Valley - Prenatal Multivitamin Multimineral, 100 Tablets: Health & Personal Care) & one with DHA (Nature Made Prenatal Multi Vitamin 250 Ct Value Size : Target). I've heard GREAT things about DHA & its benefits (BTW, the pre-natal I'm on now has DHA) but at the same time I want to only take DHA that is of decent quality & doesn't have mercury since we're trying to get pg. Do you take a DHA prenatal? Any thoughts?

I highly recommend the ones with the extra DHA. I recently heard a story on the news that the DHA is vital to your babies brain development and I'm all for that. I take OTC prenatals, right now I'm taking ones by Origins (I think it's Target brand) and they don't have extra DHA but as soon as I get to Target, which will be soon, I'll pick up an Expecta or something similar: DHA Supplement for Moms - Enfamil

I have heard mixed things about DHA so I am actually taking the Spring Valley ones that you posted a link to. They have been working great and I don't have any issues with them. I have heard some prenatals that can make you nauseous among other things but I haven't had any issues with these and I know a lot of woman who take them as well with no issues. My doctor said that they are great ones to be taking and have everything I need. They are only $4 at Wal-Mart for a bottle of 100.

If you're very iffy about DHA, then you can steer clear of it for now until they know more and in the meantime take the Spring Valley ones and get everything else you need.
