What do I need to do? One is a fluke, so they say. But two just can't be. What should I be asking the doc? What kind of testing/observations/exams should I be requesting?

Last doc (noticed I said last doc) said we could try progesterone if a second one happened. Well it has happened, but I don't want to "try" progesterone. I want to find out what the problem is and use whatever works on *that* problem. I don't know if it's a progesterone issue anyway. My cycles are very "textbook" in nature as far as length, regularity, and ovulation. The only possible issue is that my cycles are short--about 2.5-3 days + 2 more days of spotting.

Please help if you have any suggestions based on experience, things you've read, or those you know. Thank you

I am so sorry for your loss! 2 chemicals can be a fluke.... There are many tests you can do however. Most doctors won't do any testing until you have been trying for over a year or you have had more than 3 losses. Unfortunately Drs don't think Chemical pregnancies count as losses, which is totally retarded....

I think you should research online and see if there is anything you can do at home that would help. Or try to find a more lenient Dr. They are out there but you have to go through a lot of jerks first.

I really hope you get the answers you want...

Jayepink I am really sorry to hear you are having so many troubles. I have had 4 losses this year so I have a few questions for you. Also, I will note that I hate the word Chemical Pregnancy. There is nothing chemical about finding out you are pregnant - doctors disagree

If you would rather chat via PM feel free to send me one.

How long are the pregnancies lasting? How many months between the 2? How long are your cycles (ie 28 days?)

As Erica said 2 can definitely still be a fluke which is why many doctors will not start anything until 3 losses. Also the fact that your last doctor was willing to try something after 2 is a good thing. I know you don't like hearing "try" but that is the only way to find out what is going on. There are tests they can do to see if you have a progesterone deficiency but sometimes the numbers "look" fine and that is still the problem. I have just started dealing with doctors and the testing is a really long process. I wish my doctors would have "tried" something after 2 - I might be sitting here pregnant instead of waiting more doctors appointments.

BTW not meant to sound rude at all.

Also, check out PAL as well. There are many women who have dealt with exactly what you are dealing with.

I am so sorry for your losses... HUGS.. I have had 3 in the span of 11 months... One I know was chromosomal (Had the testing done after the d/e)... They most early miscariagaes are due to chromosomal abnormalities...
To add to Michelle's questions...

How old are you? Have you had any living children?

As for what to ask the dr... ask for them to do blood work starting with your NEXT cycle.. not this one the m/c cycle. Call the Dr and ask them to start bloodwork.. They can bring you in on CD3.. draw all the bloods... and get the ball rolling..

HUGS.. Please PM also if you have any questions... HUGS

Thank you ladies and thank you for the questions. Maybe my answers will spark a light bulb for you or someone else reading this.

Let's see...

My cycles are 28-29 days in length, I ovulate on day 12 or 13, my luteal phase is 16 days

I have been temping and charting for 2 years, as we used FAM as our birth control from January 2008 when I discontinued the pill, up until we started ttc November of '09

These 2 chemical pregnancies were back to back--November ovulation and December ovulation, we conceived
1st was lost approx 2 days after AF was due
2nd was lost exactly when AF was expected

After the first, doc did say we could try again. I am now wondering if we should've held off a bit.

I am 33

I have had no live children. We are trying for our first. Hope no one will judge, but I did have an abortion at age 18, 5 weeks along.

I would hope that no one here would judge you for that. We all make our choices in life.

As for what is going on... nothing really stands out but I am not a doctor.

It could be a progesterone deficiency. They can test at CD21 but that is not an indication of whether your progesterone is increasing properly during pregnancy. I have had 4 losses (7w, 4w6d, 5w1d, 5w). From what I have heard the leading candidate for me is a luteal phase deficiency (mostly a lining problem) or genetic issues. I am really hoping its not genetic but we are awaiting an appointment for more testing (genetic testing will be down the road a bit i think).

In terms of trying right after you miscarried the first time. There is no medical reason to wait. I was told the main reason to wait is emotional not physical. My sister had a healthy baby girl who was concieved the cycle after a miscarriage so it is possible. However, I have started seeing an acupuncturist who said it is really not recommended that fast because your body needs time to repair. I am currently in "repair" mode for 2-3 cycles after my latest miscarriage (November).

I feel like I am rambling so I will wrap this up by suggesting you get your doctor to do some testing and see what his plan is. Also, if you are open to it acupuncture has been helping me with my miscarriages (mostly in relaxation and balancing my body) - might be worth a try.

I hope you find something that helps though!
