I have 2 cysts on my left ovary and in the process of finding out what kind of cysts.

I'm having a burning sensation where the cysts are. It becomes quite painful for a few minutes and then goes away and comes back about 10 minutes later. I'm trying to call the Dr.'s office but I keep being put on hold.

Should I go to the ER? Does this mean a cyst has burst?

I also am having an aching pain in my uterus but believe that is because AF is on her way. Anyone have any experiences with this?

****UPDATE****
So I spoke w/ the GYN this morning and she said I should get the cysts removed. One measures 4cm and the other 5cm. The 5cm cyst is showing little to no changes and was more of concern than the 4cm cyst. So I go Monday night for pre-op and find out then when the surgery is. I'm happy this is going to be over with soon.

I had a cyst in Aug... it did rupture... I didn't know it... but I sure knew it after.. It caused what is called Peritonitis. I had severe back/side pain the fluid from the cycst... also caused with the peritonitis.. made me have severe vomiting and diarhea.. I did got to the ER because I started to run a fever. I had a CT scan and it showed a large cycst.. on my left ovary.... Stephaine... It was caused by pregnancy... I was pregnant. But I did go to m/c that pregnacy.. (They did do blood work prior to the CT but my levels were not high enough) I got my BFP 2 days later.

If I was you I would keep calling.. unless the pain gets worse.. or you start to run a fever.

GOOD LUCK KUP!

I have alot of ovarian cycsts over the years, and most of them were "complex" cycsts, meaning they were not just fluid filled, but had tissue in them. (layers). When they burst, it is extremely painful, depending on their size. Sometimes your uteris/stomache area can get crampy because of the excess fluid in that area released by the cycst. They usually do not pose a risk, even when ruptered, unless the pain management cannot be delt with at home. I always had to go to the er for pain iv's, as mine were the size of small oranges/lemons. 4-5cm.

If your pain is horrible, than I would go to the er and have an u/s confirm if the cycst ruptured or not. If its getting so big that its causing pain from pressure, than they may need to monitor you or give you something to decrease the size (usually the birth control pill)

this is just my experience with my cycsts. There are alot of different types of ovarian cycsts, and if they have not figured out by exam what yours are, you should seek the er.

Thanks so much ladies. I'm on the phone right now with the nurse and she doesn't quite understand the "burning sensation". I may just wait for DH to get home and go to the ER. She said something about it maybe being an UTI and a burning sensation isn't really a symptom of cysts. I have an appt for noon tomorrow for an evaluation. Who knows what's really going on here. All I know is my body is doing something that it's never done before.

I have a cyst but didn't even know about it until the ultrasound when I found out my baby was dead. So I cared about the cyst for 3 seconds...then about two weeks ago, I remembered "OMG I have a huge cyst on my ovary!"

But I know nothing else. I just hope everything is okay and whatever it is rights itself! Let us know how it goes!

I am so sorry you are in pain right now! I had a medium sized fluid filled cyst in August of 07, and I was doubled over in pain when it burst. I went to the ER b/c I thought it was my appendix, and they told me I was also pg after taking blood which turned out to be chemical later on. However, they admitted me and would not let me leave for a few days until my levels dropped below 10 to make sure it wasn't an ectopic pg. It wasn't, but my OB is overly cautious. For about a month after, I was really swollen in my abdomen, I think due to what Kary said. I went on to get pg with my son the month after and haven't had a cyst since. I hope they can help you out and give you some answers, the pain is awful, I still remember it well!

Just popping in here and saw your post. I have had a lot of cysts over the years. I have had the burning feeling your talking about. You can have a cyst twist the ovary and cause the blood flow to stop for a second to it. It's painful like off and on bad cramping and causes a strong burning. Most of the time those cysts don't burst because they are smaller.

Keep us updated. Also there is a program for a naturopath way of treating cysts that is diet related. I did the program for 3 months and I have not had a cysts since for the last 10 months. PM me if you want the name of it.
