I called my dr this morning and they had me come in to do an ultrasound since I thought I had a miscarriage this weekend... Still no hb so I know it's inevitable but my cervix is still closed? I don't understand why my body is going through the motions but not letting anything out... I did not want to have a d& c originally, I wanted to do it naturally but the dr seems to think I need to do it by this Thursday... I don't know what to do..,

Steph... I got my BFP in Aug... my numbers were not rising.... It took 4 wks for my numbers to get down to 0 and my body to do what it needed to do. I fought my Dr throughout the 4 weeks. I went in for blood work every week.. when they would call with levels.. they would push a d/c... and I would say lets give it another week..... than on the 3rd week... the numbers finally came down to a level that they stoped pushing a d/c.

I also was not bleeding, if someone continues to bleed.. they might push for a d/c...

If you have any other questions.... you can always PM me if you don't want to post them here.. HUGS!

hey hun! I'm so sorry! I had a D&C as well with my last loss - because it was a "missed-miscarriage" my body just wouldn't adjust enough to let things go. When your hormones are high enough etc sometimes our body's just don't understand the change quickly enough. With the D&C i had a lot less bleeding then with my other losses .... and i didn't have to wait longer. I had already waited a week to confirm, so my doctor also suggested a D&C. The other factor is that you don't want to get any kind of infection. It was helpful for me because then once it was done i could really actually grieve and then start the process of healing. Again, I'm so sorry hun! HUGS!

HUGS!! I'm sorry you are going through this. It is soooooo hard.
I had a missed m/c at 12 weeks. Went in for my u/s at 11 1/2 weeks and found out that there was no hb and the baby had died at 8 1/2 weeks. So for 3 weeks I had no clue that anything was wrong...no bleeding or cramping. Who knows how long I would have still gone on for before my body finally realized that something wasn't right and finally started to m/c on my own. My levels were going down, but probably very slowly. I had to take medication to start a m/c.
I actually wanted a d&c, but my doctor refused to do it. I'm kind of glad that I did it without surgery, but it definately took longer and was more stressful & emotional.
The longer you wait there is always a risk of infection, but don't let the dr. rush you into anything. Your body probably just needs time to realize that the baby is no longer growing.
With surgery there is always a danger of scar tissue, but naturally there is always the danger of retained tissue. So who knows. You have to decide what is best for you.
If you do it naturally expect labour pains and a lot of heavy bleeding and passing tissue. The further along you are the harder it gets I think.
HUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish you wouldn't have to go through this and make decisions like that.

i'm sorry oyou are going through this. It's never a pleasent experience!!

Like Alethia, I had a missed miscarriage and/or a blighted ovum (sorta the same, but not). My body just didn't know to stop acting pregnant. Once it finally did, I started to bleed, but only a tiny bit. I was all prepare to have it all expell itself, but even after 48 hours, it really never got started - so I had a D&C.

How you want to "deal" with this situation is always hard - and it's a personal decision. There's pro and cons to either way, as the ladies above have suggested and experienced. personally, I needed/wanted the D&C, to "get it over with" so I can start the recovery part, thus to the TTC part, again. But, that was me...

There's a member here who had a natural m/c, but had some complications with it and ended up having a D&C a month later. So, there's proof that anything can happen.

We are here for you!!

My m/c was a missed m/c too. I started to spot @ about 9.5 weeks but the u/s showed that the baby had stopped developing about 3 weeks prior. I had a natural m/c a few days later. It may take your body a few weeks to catch up.

The dr called back with my betas and they went from above 21000 last Tuesday to around 3000 this week... So she wants me to see if it will pass naturally for one more week since that's how I wanted to do it in the first place... She said it was good that the numbers have dropped so quickly and hopefully my cervix will open up and pass everything soon... Please continue to have me and dh in your t&p...

I am so so sorry that you and your DH are going through this It's a good thing that your body is doing what it needs to right now. I hope and pray that you get through this with as little pain as possible. If you have any concerns call your Dr as this can be confusing and frightening at times.

We are all here for you too (((HUGS)))
