My shipment has arrived and I finally took my first pill today. It is supposed to be healthy for the glands and Lord knows I need the help. This last cyce was disturbed to put it lightly. Anyone else use this, any noticible difference?

In Peru that is the main staple of food for them, it's related to the yam and is high in phyto-progesterone. It's considered the "fertility food" and a fertility booster for males and females!

Good luck, it's good stuff I've considered it many years ago after my first loss and even when my DH & I started to TTC April'08... but I never did go get it.

I know you shouldn't take this if you have thyroid problems.... Just let your Dr know that you are taking this... Some people try to mix the western and alternitive meds can sometimes turn out bad... Some herbal suplements can reduce or increase effects of other medication.

Ok the Nurse will step down now....

I've never heard that, Kary. Actually, I read from a book, written by a thyroid patient, that Maca is something that we can supplement with to help our thyroids as well as immune system. Now, I'm specifically referring to hypothyroidism, not hyper. What do you know? Why shouldn't you use it with thyroid problems? Just looking for further info if you have it to make up my mind, mostly b/c I thought that one day I'd try it & I am hypo myself.

This was taken from a book I had to study for my boards..... (I had to study herbs)

Worsens Symptoms of Thyroid Disease
Maca root contains more than 50µg of iodine, which worsens the side effects of thyroid disease. People with thyroid diseases are warned not to eat Maca root.
Causes Goiters
Another dangerous side effect of Maca root consumption is goiters, caused by the Glucosinolate chemical in raw Maca root. Combined with a low sodium diet, Maca root increases the development of goiters.

Well I definitely don't have a low sodium diet. And my thyroid is completely normal, thankfully. Karyrn, thank you for posting that info.

Ooo it would be great if my skin could look nice too. This winter is drying out my skin horribly!
