I was 15 wks 4 days weeks when I had a miscarriage on Dec 16th, 2009. I didn't have any bleeding or cramps when I miscarried. I had spotting at 6wks. I had 4 ultrasounds & each one was fine. I had severe morning/all day sickness. At about 14 weeks my feet started to swell. I checked my bp the next day & it was higher than normal. It usually ran 115-120/70. When I checked my bp it was 145/84. I called my dr. & they told me to just watch my bottom #. I checked my bp later on that day & my bottom # went up to 100. I called my dr. on wed. & they got me in the next day. I went in the next day(Thur) & it was still high. They put me on bedrest for 2 days. Had to do a 24hr urine b/c I had a lot of protein show up in my urine. Went back in on Fri and my bp was better but still higher than normal. Heartbeat was great. Dr. ended up putting me on bp med. Had to repeat 24hr. urine the next wk. because my doctor didn't have me do it for the full 24 hours and it still showed up high. I went in on Monday and my bp was still high but lowered a little after laying on my left side. They didn't check the heartbeat. Continued to monitor my bp and it was still high so I called the dr. back on Tues. They had me come in the next day on wed. to check my bp and have meds changed b/c bp was still high. When they went to check the heartbeat they couldn't find it. Nurse checked, then doctor, and then had to have an ultrasound. My protein was in the 7000's. Dr. said I miscarried. I was induced that day. Dr. thought it could have been a possible partial molar pregnancy and mentioned possible pre-eclampsia. I saw the PA last week on Jan 12th. She mentioned something about seeing a specialist the next time I got pregnant due to having high bp so early in the pregnancy. I would see both my regular dr. and the specialist. I was just wondering if anyone had this same problem or if they actually went to a specialist because of high bp or pre-eclampsia. I really want to try again but am just scared. I was just wondering how often you would visit the specialist due to high bp/preeclampsia and how many ultrasounds you would get.
UPDATE: I went to the doctor on Tues. Jan 19th to get my results from the miscarriage. Dr. said I did have a partial molar pregnancy. At that time, he said that they didn't know exactly what was wrong with the baby. He said that he wanted me to use condoms this month and that I could start trying next month. Thursday I got a call from my doctor's office because they received a fax about the baby. The baby ended up having an extra chromosome XXY. I only spoke to the nurse on the phone. Now my doctor would like me to see a genetics counselor before trying. The nurse said that the xxy is what caused the partial molar pregnancy. I don't even really understand all that. I really want to start trying as soon as possible but I am scared to death. It could take months to even get in to see a genetics counselor. I don't know whether to schedule an appointment and go ahead and start trying now or wait until after the genetics counselor says that I can try. I just don't think I can wait that long. I don't even know if I really want to know more b/c the more I hear about the % of things happening again frighten me.
Who else has had problems with pre-eclampsia, XXY, or partial molar pregnancy? It would be nice to hear other stories.
