My name is Chelsea, i just left the September 2010 DDC after a miscarriage.

Does anybody know how long your supposed to wait before trying again? My thought was 2 cycles but what do you all think???

Hi Chelsea,
I am so sorry for your loss. I think you will find this board a great support! I was told by my OB to wait at least 1 cycle to have my period, and she said the norm was at least 2 cycles before your body is ready to be pregnant again however you will find MANY stories on the boards of women who got pregnant right away after m/c. For me, it took one month of a really long irregular period, a second month of a normalish period and the third month I did get pregnant. I think the most important thing is that your HCG levels go down to O and then you can anticipate that Aunt Flo is probably coming. Best of luck!

Hi Chelsea! Every women is different and it is really hard to say. I had a m/c back in July '09 and recently just started trying again. That loss was after losing twin in Nov '08. I waited between my losses to start again. Other women can start right away. I wish you the best on your decision and hope you get a speedy BFP when you do start trying again.

Hi Chelsea! I am so sorry for your loss. I had a birth of a still born on Nov 4th 2009. My OB instructed me to wait 3 cycles (3 months more exact). But I waited until my 2nd cycle. I hope the best for you in your decision and as others have put it a speedy BFB when you start trying again.

Chelsea,

So sorry for your loss. I miscarried at 15w4d on 12/16/09. I was originally told 1 cycle but now that has changed. My dr. told me on 1/5 my hcg was negative (less than 2) and on 1/26 my hcg went up to 434. 1/28 it was 300 something. I had a partial molar pregnancy so now I have to go in weekly to check my hcg until it gets back to negative. The nurse also told me that I may have to come in once a month for a year to have it checked after I reach negative. Basically I am taking it now that I have to wait a year once I hit negative. I go Wed. to talk to my doctor though. Everyone is different though. Some ppl are told a certain amount of months and don't take that advice and try before there time is up. Others are told 1 cycle, 2, 3 etc. I think it also depends on how far along you were and what caused your m/c.

I think Lisa is right- it depends on how far along you were and what may have caused the m/c. I am so sorry for your loss and hope that we can provide support for you through this difficult time! I was really early on, and my OB said to wait to have a "normal" period before TTC again. I hope you get your sticky bean soon

i am sorry to hear about your loss. i just left the august DDC,

i have read a ton of stories about women getting preggo again right after a m/c. i am on the fence about it myself. a part of me wants to jump right in and go for it, another part of me wants to be very sure i am totally healthy so my next bean has the absolute optimal environment to make it the full 40 weeks.

keep an eye on your hcg levels, your emotions and your health. i think you will know without a doubt when you are ready to try again! (my doc said to wait 2 cycles - and that this was basically for dating purposes....)

Chelsea I am so sorry for your loss.... {{HUGS}}... We were given the ok to go ahead and start TTC after each of our losses at my 2 week check up. My Dr told me their is no medical reason for me to wait. And that my body will not get pregnant unless it is ready.. All I had to do is make sure I was ready emotionally .. Good Luck!!

My doc said 3 mos but that there was debate on it and there was no real science to back up waiting 3 mos. He also said we got pregnant sooner that he would not be overly concerned. I personally wanted to wait 1 cycle but at the same time wanted to be one of those who got pregnant right away and went on to have a healthy baby, but I think I would have worried alot. Of course, I'll probably still worry.

Hi Chelsea . . . I just came from the sept DDC myself. My doctor told me to wait at least one cycle, just to be able to date the next pregnancy. However, medically I could start whenever I finish all this and my hcg is back down to negative ranges again.

Hi Chelsea...so sorry for your loss. I too was in the Sept DDC for a little while. I m/c just shy of 5 weeks...basically a chemical.

Anyway....the nurse at my OB office said to wait until I got my first real period....but after a lot of research and talking to others, and the fact that I am healthy, and that it was sooooo early...we jumped right back in the ttc game.

GL to you in whatever your choose. We are all here to support you!

Katie

Hi there. I'm so sorry for your loss. I was on the September boards for a few weeks, originally due 9-1-10. I was told by my doctor after my D&C in November to just go ahead and try again. He said he'd see me back when I was pregnant again. No explanations, nothing-- just go ahead and try. There's very mixed messages coming from doctors and I think it all boils down to how each doctor wants to handle things.

I'm sorry again...
