I just got back from the obgyn's office a bit ago.

I told him about my very messed up cycle, as well as other weird things I'm noticing. I'm getting adult acne for one thing. I have more pimples right now than I ever got when I was a teenager.. That and my complete lack of ewcm. He said those symptoms sound like pcos.

He mentioned women with pcos don't always ovulate healthy eggs and that may have been why I lost that baby. He mentioned that was unlikely, but still possible considering my weird cycles.

He said weight gain can also affect cycles so I may not have pcos at all. He said he wants me to lose about 5 or 10 pounds and keep that off. If my periods still aren't normal after a few months of keeping the weight off to come see him and he'll do a full work up on both me and dh (semen analysis for him, xrays/ultrasounds/blood tests for me).

I guess we'll know in a few months what the real story is. He didn't even try to ask me to wait the usual year or two before giving up and going on fertility medication. He said "if you're not pregnant naturally in 6 or 9 months and still having very irregular cycles even after losing weight, then come see me again. Hopefully the next time I see you, you'll be pregnant." Later on in the conversation, he said "I have no idea when you'll be ovulating because of your messed up cycles. I tell most women and their husbands/boyfriends to get really busy for about a week about 8-10 days after their period. For you, I think maybe get busy and stay busy for 2 weeks instead of one. Maybe that will work." That had me rofl. He's so encouraging and nice and funny. I really like him and I know I want to go see him when I am pregnant.

At least now we know kind of what's going on. For now, both try to get pregnant and lose some weight. The losing weight part I can do in my sleep.

Hopefully a healthy pregnancy by April or May. That is the goal..

I'm blessed we found him.

I'll post here first after I tell DH.

My obgyn mentioned that as something to do if weight loss fails to do anything.

Just wanted to say "congrats on your plan". Definitely stop by and check out the TTC w/PCOS board. I have PCOS and it was a long hard road. But the good news is that it's really true....for many women, just losing a solid 10 lbs "fixes" your cycles. It sounds crazy but it's true and I think your doctor sounds well-read and also I like how he just isn't all about trying all these crazy drugs on you.

Couple things on PCOS: 1) exercise helps....it makes your body more sensitive to the insulin in produces (too much in the case of PCOS).

2) lower sugar diets also seem to really work for a similar reason. They will give you less of an insulin spike after eating.

(It's the extra insulin that wrecks havoc on your reproductive system)
