When I went to the ER with my miscarriage, the doctor told me to wait at least a month before we start TTC again so I could have another period to date things by. However, I just went for a check up with my regular OBGYN and she told me to wait 2-3 months and to use some kind of contraceptive until then. I'm not keen on the waiting part. I'm just wondering how long your doctors told you to wait before you were given the green light to TTC?

i have read over and over again that there is no medical reason to wait the old school 3 cycles. if everything happened completely and your levels are back to zero they encourage you to wait one complete cycle so you have some sort of clue as to dating the baby. i was told that was by my ob that was the only reason they say to wait a cycle or two.
we are going to wait one full cycle and then go for it. if all goes as planned, i should get af in about 2 weeks and it is a go from there!
GL to you

Colleen - we're you in the Sept DDC? I'm pretty sure everything happened completely . . . I go in tomorrow for hopefully one last blood draw. However I've taken a hpt and it no longer shows positive, so I'm expecting everything to be normal again. Since I was already expecting a baby in Sept, this waiting thing is really hard . . . waiting until after AF sounds better than 3 months!

Hey you =)
I had a m/c in Nov, and they told me to wait until I got my period, THEN three full cycles.
I got my period 27 days after the D&C. Decided I felt fine to TTC again, and got pregnant that month. Of course people said "YOU GOT PREGNANT AFTER A D&C???" Are you nuts? I've only heard of a million people doing it. Thus far, the baby is fine.
I say if you are ready, go ahead and try.
I also thought my OB would have a fit but he didn't say anything about the fact I didn't wait.
Now I wasn't ready to try before I got my period, I was careful to not get pregnant that month.
You're ready when YOU are ready =)

My perinatologist didn't say anything about waiting this time around, even their FNP said after this is all over we can try again...
Medically there's not always a reason to wait, but it's best to clear things up thru your ob/gyn first. Ask if there is any real reason to wait, what if you were to get pregnant before your first AF or in those first few months. Write down everything you can think of to ask, ask it when you go back in and go from there.
I think over all it's a personal choice, hope this helps!

Thanks . . .we are definitely holding out until after AF shows, but then I may have to talk to my obgyn again. I'll be talking to her or her nurse again on Friday when I get my numbers back.

Clearly those asking "are you nuts?" do not understand! I hope you have a happy & healthy 9 months!

I was just told on 2/3 I have to wait 3 months before TTC. I had a m/c 8 weeks ago and am still waiting for my hcg to hit negative! I don't know if I will wait 3 months though b/c it has already been 8 weeks and adding at least 3 months to that seems way too long. I had a partial molar pregnancy though.

I was told to wait 3 months after my D&C in July. We waited a little longer for other reasons and are just really starting to try this month. They tell you to wait for dating purposes.

I had a natural mc 3 weeks ago, the Dr said we could start trying again right away and hoped to see us back in the next few months with another pregnancy. I'm anxious to start trying again asap, but I can't seem to pass this mc completely.

I"m having the same problem, can't seems to pass this one completely, it's only been 2 weeks for me, but it feels like forever. As soon as we can we are going to start trying again though, I actually had my only successful pregnancy thus far with DD when we got pregnant right after the second MC we had, maybe my body likes the extra hormones or something?!

I was told to wait 2 cycles. Well after reading things and hearing that "after your first cycle there is really no reason to wait any longer" we decided to prevent until the first AF, then after that we were NTNP. Yesterday AF #2 came so I guess I can pretend I followed Dr's orders
