I've come to realize just how annoying/emotional/stressful the whole business of ttc is. I was lucky before, we'd decide we wanted another baby and next month I'd get a bfp. And this time I'm focusing on it more because of the loss. Anyway, I've always been a runner and I just signed up for my firs half-marathon on May 1st!! I've never run one before, I just stick with 5K's but it's a life goal and it will give me something besides ttc to focus on. I decided if I signed up and paid the regisration, then I couldn't back out. If by the grace of God I get pregnant this cycle (doubtful) I won't run the half, I'll downgrade to a 5K. (I ran races with all my pregnancies). So I starting my training, ran 5 miles last night, and it was good, so we'll see if I can run to the finish line or crawl!

I'm always amazed at the half & full marathon runners, that's allota miles!
I say go for it obtain that goal of running that half marathon, you can do this and I hope to God there's a reason that you won't tho
I agree TTCAL is stressful, aggrivating, but if we don't try we won't get pregnant right? Well you know what I mean... have sex, lol, not not try. Uh, what am I trying to say???

I am also training for a half on 5-11. It will be my second this year (I did White Rock Marathon on Dec. 13th) I plan on running it even if I do get pregnant, I will adjust my goals and drop all my speedwork but I will still run it. We could start a training thread to keep us motivate and focusing on different things

You mean there is a life outside of TTC??
I commend you ladies for running like that. I have never been one to be athletic. Good Luck and I hope you reach your goals!

Kat - that sounds like a good idea. It would be nice to focus on something other than making a baby. How was the half? I'm a bit nervous about a full 13 miles, but I know I can do it...I'm too stubborn to quit!! My only concern is my knee...it is giving me fits right now, rebelling against those 5 miles I ran yesterday. I bought some glucosamine and chonroitin, and I've heard they work miracles. We'll see.
I do think that even if I get a bfp, I'll still do it. I've never had any reason to not run while pregnant...my OB encouraged it. I am pretty certain I'm out this cycle, so if I do get pregnant next cycle, I'll already have increased my miles to a suitable half-marathon level, so I could still run. I'll just take it easy and do it to finish and to be able to say "yeah, I ran a half marathon....and I'm pregnant!"

Which part of your knee? My IT Band bothers me some, especially during soccer season. When it hurts on the outside, about middle way down - it usually is the IT band. I have a strap that you place above the knee that stabilizes it and works wonders!
The White Rock Half was awesome. I ran with DH and it was our second half (We have also done a full). He is running the Half in Austin, Sunday and going to try to beat his time. We did 1 h 49 min. but both would love to get under 1:45.

My knee is aching on the inner side. And there's a small spot that is actually tender to touch. It kept me awake for a bit this a.m, but it's fine now. I took a night off tonight and it not bothering me at all. I'm impressed, 1h 49m! I'm hoping to just finish and that's awesome you and your DH run together...my DH is just fine cheering from the sidelines I figure at the pace I'm doing now, I'll finish in about 2h 15min...hoping that as I train I can cut it down to closer to 2 hours. I ran 5 miles yesterday at a 10min mile pace. Really, the thrill of just FINALLY doing a half will be enough! Maybe someday I'll run a full...but it seems like such a long time to run...seems daunting!
Oh, and I found a site last summer that you can buy "expectant runner" t-shirts. I will absolutely buy one should I find myself pg on race day. (be sure to check out the back!)
Runner with child tee shirts from Zazzle.com
I thought it was funny...hopefully we'll both be able to wear this with pride soon!
