My OB just informed me that we need to wait 3 months before we TTC. 3 months?? Is that typical? This is my first loss. I had a natural miscarriage. Still spotting some but is slowing down everyday... But 3 months?? Oh my!

I think it depends on OB. My doctor told me that as long as i had a period as heavy as AF i would be ok to try again whenever.I had a chemical pregnancy. I dont know if different kinds of m/c have different healing times.

My doctor told me there is no medical reason to wait that long. The reason most will tell you to wait is to let your body get its hormones back in sync and to let your emotional health heal. We were told we didn't even need to wait until AF is we didn't want to.

Yeah, every Dr. is different. I just had an ovarian cyst removed and the Dr. who suggested the surgery said we would have to wait 1-2 cycles before TTC and the Dr. who did the surgery said 1 week. So I'm not taking any breaks. IMO, I would see how your feeling and if you're up to it, then start trying as soon as your ready. Good luck!

i was told to wait 2 cycles and that was to get a clear date of the next pregnancy. as long as your numbers are at zero - i dont think you have to wait 3 months.
all the research i have done has said there doesnt seem to be any medical reason to wait that long if you had a natural complete m/c.
i am waiting one cycle.

I agree with them. My OB said after my D&C to "get back at it"... those were his exact words. LOL After my chemical he just said that my body just treated the loss as a normal period and I had no reason to worry. He felt my losses were unrelated and just happened. Once again he just said, "Get back to it".
Every doctor has their own reason. Some cases there may be medical reasons to wait. More often than not, it's the docs' opinions. If you're emotionally ready, do what you feel is right for you.

You'll know when you are ready.
I had a D&C in November. I was told to start my period and wait THREE MORE PERIODS before TTC again.
In December I started my period and I said to DH about cycle day 4...hey, I feel pretty much back to normal here...want to try now?
And we got pregnant. My theory was if you aren't meant to get pregnant or your body isn't ready, you won't.
I wasn't ready two weeks after the D&C...but after I got my own period I felt back to normal.

three months is crazy! i would wait one to regulate cycle. my cycle took 6 months to regulate. your body knows what it's doing and it won't do something it's not ready for. good luck and i'm very sorry for your loss!!!!! HUGS

We had our loss 11 days ago. We're back on the TTC wagon, not waiting a moment. Already baby dancing.
My midwife said they like to wait 3 months. I laughed at her. So she said how about waiting a month? I laughed again. She just shook her head and laughed along with me.

Every doctor is different but my doctor recommends waiting 1 month in case you get pregnant right away to date the next pregnancy. But she said there is no medical reason to wait. Your body will not get pregnant if its not ready! Hope this helps.

After each loss... my ob said when you are ready try again... No waiting.. and that was after 2 natural losses... and one D/C. I agree with the other ladies.. just do what feels right to you.... Your body will not get Pregnant unless it is ready to.... HUGS!

 with what Michelle said (mlyster)
I've been told a varity of things.... I'm going thru an ectopic loss right now and the FNP was saying after we get thru this we can get back onto TTC again. I've heard 3 months, 1 month, 2 months, no wait and even as long as 6!

Dh and I had our loss three weeks ago and we are also on the TTC wagon! I had a miscarriage right before we became pregnant with DD. so thats my plan this time!!!
I figure as long as the emotional side of things are dealt with your body will know what to do.

My doc also said 3 mos but admitted that there was no real reason to wait, just what they recommended. He said if I got pregnant sooner than 3 mos, he wouldn't be overly concerned. We are now in month 3 ttc even though we haven't been preventing. We haven't gone out of our way to try either. I've been charting my temps to try to see if I could figure out what was going on with me. I'm still confused though, lol.
