It got me thinking after the previous post of prentals/vitamins...

Right now I just take an OTC prental and it has 800mcg of Folic Acid. I see alot of you take an additional Folic Acid vitamin... Is that something I need to be taking? Or is what I get in my prental enough. I also see alot of talk here and on other boards regarding baby asprin and the benefits of taking 1 a day with the help of TTC especially after a miscarriage... Is that something else that would be good to take?

Heading to the store later and wasent sure if I should add a few lil things to my list.

Some take extra folic acid because they have to for clotting disorders and varying other issues, same thing with the baby aspirin too.

Like Celena said... is true... but folic acid is a water based, so you will just pee out what your body does not use... It can not hurt you. It does not build up in your system, most Drs want you to be on 1mg.... prepregnancy.

I too have only been taking a prenatal, and have been wondering if I should add some more folic acid. Like Kary said, I don't think it can hurt.

Ditto to everything the other girls said.

My midwife told me with over the counter prenatals there typically isn't enough Folic Acid. That's why we take a separate Folic Acid.

Is there enough folic acid in prenatal plus vitamins then. That is what my dr. prescribed me. I have been wondering if I should be taking anything else as well

Lisa, I took my prenatals into my OB when I had an appointment. I showed her what I was taking and we figured from there if I needed extra folic acid plus the Omega/fish oil. You could always give them a call and ask
