My aunt is 19 weeks pregnant right now and called to tell my mom that she had some bleeding and cramping last night. Her doctor told her not to worry, and she will see him tomorrow.

I said something like, it's scary, but it does happen, and hopefully everything will work out. And my mom (who is totally aware of my m/c) said, "I just feel bad for her because she had an u/s last week and the baby was waving at her, so now it's like she's actually losing a baby and it wouldn't be just a m/c anymore." I just kind of stared at her, and I think she felt awkward because she just said, "Well you know what I mean" and walked away. This is not the first insensitive comment I've gotten from her, and I just get so sick of it.

I am sorry for the comment and that is hurt you.. I too have dealt with a few of those.. They hit you like a dagger to the heart.. Sometimes it is hard for a person who has never been down that road to know how you are feeling and what comments are hurtful.. HUGS hun..

I'm so sorry you had to hear her comments. Unfortunately this type of stuff happens all to often from people. It hurts, but more so when it's from your family. Maybe you should talk to her and tell her how you feel?

Thanks for the support, everyone. It would be better if I could talk to my mom about it, but she doesn't really deal well with these kinds of conversations. Usually she just ends up crying because you're attacking her and leaving the room.

So, all I can do is vent a little And I knew everyone here would understand.

HUGS... I'm so sorry... My mom also made some comments... since she has never had a loss... So she dosen't even relize when her comments hurt. HUGS.. I'm sorry you have to go through this... HUGS

I'm sorry. It's always worse when it's a family member saying the stupid things. I'm super close with my mom and she was one of the people that was really there for me when I lost my son but even she has said a couple of stupid comments. One of them she apologized afterward because she didn't realize until afterward that it affected me but other times she just doesn't get it.
