Chemical or just wishful thinking???

I'm so confused. I m/c on 2/2 and always had regular cycles before that. I assumed/hoped AF would come on 3/2 just like before. She didn't so of course I POAS and it was a faint positive. I tested again Thursday and Friday and both were the same faint positive. Friday afternoon I started feeling crampy so I tested again Saturday morning with a different brand test and it was completely negative. I did a digital test Sunday morning and it said not pregnant. AF arrived last night.

How do you know if this was a chemical pregnancy and therefore another loss or if I got some bum tests that were false positives?

This TTCAL journey sucks.

It sounds like a chemical to me. Those chemicals are really tricky and some are a little more evident than others. It happens so quickly. My chemical last fall was really fast. I only knew I was pregnant for a few days before I took another test and it was so much more faint and then within a day or two I was bleeding. My hcg when tested never really got above 60 or so. I think you probably had a chemical but I would go in for a blood draw to make sure that it did happen and that your hcg returns to normal. That's just me....you may do whatever. And I will agree....TTCAL journey is really hard, but I will be praying for you and keeping my fingers crossed. Hopefully we will both be in a ddc and enjoying life a little more....

First off I am so sorry for your loss... You said you had a miscarriage on 2/2? Did you test negative since that m/c? I had a m/c in Sept it took over 5 weeks for me to test negative... and than AF finally showed. So if you didn't test, this might be left over HCG from that loss on 2/2. Unless you had bloodwork or tesed negative since then. If you did test negative... than chances are this was indeed another loss.

I did weekly blood draws after my m/c and was 99 on 2/8, 8 on 2/15 and 2 on 2/22 so I know it is not left over from the first PG.

We've been trying for over a year and a half so it appears we've figured out how to catch the egg. It's breaking my heart to keeping losing it though. It just feels so hopeless.

I would call the Dr... just so it is documented that you did have a postive HPT. Some Dr's will count it as a loss... others will not. It depends on the Dr. But Alot of Dr won't do testing until your third loss... So if you can get started on testing.. I would try to get them to jump on it. I am so sorry you are going through yet another loss.. HUGS

false positive pregnancy test are rare!!! i think it was a chemical. same thing happened to me awhile back! hugs!!!

I'm sorry for your losss... What brand of test did you use that gave you the faint pos, and was it visible or like an early on you canbarely see it?? I was just curious..

they were the target brand that is supposed to be the equivalent of FRER. It was visible but never got any darker. I had the tests from my first PG and it looked like the lines off those early tests. I kept testing thinking the line would get darker and it never did and the fourth day the test was so clearly negative. There wasn't a single drop of anything that could have been considered a positive. I thought I was nuts about the other positives but kept looking at them like ok, I'm not crazy. So I did a digital and it said negative.

I was exhausted and going to the bathroom constantly so that is what made me do a test. I was shocked as hell when it was positive so I kinda thought the first one was wrong. But then it was positive again the second day so then all I could think was we tried for a year and a half and nothing and now twice in three months I get pregnant. ***??? By the third day I was starting to worry that the line never got darker. Then I got stomach cramps that ended up lasting until yesterday morning. By Saturday it was negative and AF came Monday night. I never had bad cramps until these m/c so that also caused me to wonder what was going on.

So apparently the eggs are working, the sperm are working and they are meeting each other so now I have to figure out how to get them to stick around for longer than a couple weeks.
