Im still waiting for AF to show after my loss... Today would be 1 month from the day we found out we lost walnut. We tried for 6 months after I stopped BCP and my cycles would range anywhere from 28 - 32 days.. How would you go about figuring your cycle since its not exact each month.. Would you just take the average to figure it out?

Another question I have is what day do I really count as my loss.. We go by the 12th since thats the day It was confirmed.. My betas went from 4000 to 800 in 48 hours. I had bled for 5 days prior to that but we did see baby on u/s just a slow heartbeat... Im just trying to figure when I should expect AF or maybe if I need to POAS here soon and check since we was not being careful after the m/c...

Im so all over the place but wanted to get back to "normal" so we can really start tracking and really trying.

Would you just take the average to figure it out? The way that FF figures it out is an average... But since your cycles are a little wacky.. off b/c and than pregnant.. and than a m/c... after my 2nd loss.. it took 7 months to get back to a "normal".. than I concieved again.. m/c again..... And than I had two really off wack cycles.. before gettng put on clomid...... So it can take a year after a m/c... and after b/c I'm not sure if your body has to readjust I would assume it would have to be taken into consideration how long you were on the B/C.

Im just trying to figure when I should expect AF or maybe if I need to POAS here soon and check since we was not being careful after the m/c... In regards to your cycle? Once your levels hit 0 and your frist AF starts would be you first real cycle... as for a loss cycle.. most count cd1 as your first day of bleeding... But if you were still testing +, that could really screw things up.... Example: I got a + HPT on Aug 26th.... After a few blood draws... my numbers never went above 96.... I bleed for threes days very light around Sept 5th... my numbers were still in the 50's for weeks.... I finally started to bleed Oct 10th.... So that is when I counted CD1....

Im so all over the place but wanted to get back to "normal" so we can really start tracking and really trying.
I know how frustrating this can be.... I am so sorry you are going through this. HUGS!

As far as predicting a cycle to catch O or to just know when to expect AF, I usually go by my shortest cycle. So for example, my pre-loss cycles varied from 35-45 days. When I wanted to catch O, I would always start using OPKs and BDing 4-5 days before my earliest O date (which was CD19 for a 35 day cycle). That way, if I O early, I catch it, and if I O later, I just have to keep POAS and BDing. If you use the average, you will miss the O for the shorter cycle. Same thing with predicting AF, if you take the average, a short cycle will catch you off guard and unprepared.

I would use the same principle for picking a CD1 from your loss. I would go with the first day of bleeding, that way you wouldn't run the chance of an unexpectedly early O or AF. But then just keep in mind if you don't O or get AF on the expected day, that you could have to add some time to account for when your levels were back to baseline.

personally, i wouldnt even try to count the days after a loss as a cycle. you ( i mean "you" generally here) have so many variables to take into account. after a loss your hormones are completely wacked. you cant assume your body is just going to kick right in with the correct levels of hormones. i remember kary saying that she thought she was ovulating, had an u/s and there wasnt one mature follicle.

my plan was this.... had i decided to ttc immediately after my loss, i was just going to BD every day and try to catch whatever egg may or may not be there. i didnt try to count, cause i had no idea if my body was even remotely back on track. i really think the only way you can count days is once AF comes - cause that is HOPEFULLY the start of a real honest to goodness cycle. i am holding my breath this month that AF comes when she is supposed to cause then i will feel that i may actually be back on some sort of real cycle. by definition, you have to have repetition for something to be considered a cycle, so even after your first AF you cant know for sure if you are cyclical or not.

i had my first AF 22 days after i stopped bleeding. i bled for 10 days, so it took 32 days for me to get AF from the day i started to spot.

GL!!!! truly i wouldnt worry about cycle days until you start AF - there is just no way to know, it is purely guess work!

the whole thing just sucks royally i really hope you caught an egg early on and you dont have to deal with ANY of this! wouldnt that me just wonderful?!?!

My loss was also on 2/12 and I am still waiting on AF too. I'm hoping she shows tomorrow. My first loss I needed a D&C and AF showed 30 days after we saw no heartbeat and 22 days after my D&C. My 2nd I miscarried naturally and AF showed 30 day after there was no h/b on the u/s. I hope that AF shows up soon for both of us

Hi Becca,
I count my loss as Feb 10th because thats the day the baby actually passed. I started bleeding on the 9th and the u/s still showed a strong heart beat that day, at that point it was a threatened m/c so Id say the day the heartbeat is no longer there would be the date to use.

Hugs! I know how difficult this all is. Just a though but have you thought about charting your cycles? Temping or even just documenting each month when AF arrives, how long she lasts and then use OPK's and mark down a positive? This may help you and also your doctor. There also is a book called "taking charge of your fertility" here is a link to the book. I recommend this to everyone. It explains your body so well. Hope this helps. And if you have any questions please feel free to PM me!
