Will anyone be getting any type of testing done once pregnant, and or will you be monitored a little closer with more u/s appointments etc...

Share if you like.

My OB has offered to do more blood work for us to make sure our numbers are going up. Weekly ultrasounds in the first trimester (which might be nice), and then we have opted to get a CVS test done around 11 weeks. It's a personal choice and just something we've chosen to do after discussing with our OB.

I will have blood tests to see if my #'s are rising properly and I will have extra ultrasounds in the first trimester. Even though I am only 27 I have the option to get CVS or Amnio done if I want since I had a baby with trisomy 18. I want to avoid the CVS as I had a really hard time with it last time and fainted at the peri's office so if my NT and triple screen come back normal I will be skipping that. I will also get a level 2 u/s at the peri's office at 18 weeks to check anatomy in addition to the normal 20 week u/s with my OB.

When I found out I was pregnant last September and went to the OB he told me that I was considered... advanced maternal age! *gasp* He said he had to cringe when he said that because most ladies want to throw a shoe at him! LOL I'm 36 years old. I told him that if I'm young enough to get pregnant, I'm not old!

That said, when you have the AMA diagnosis with your pregnancy they want to do a ton of things. He recommended blood tests and an amnio and extra u/s... I told him no. I told him that I would be happy to do the u/s testing but the other stuff I wasn't into. He also told me that because the risk of Down's is greater with AMA patients he would send me to Indianapolis for further testing if an u/s here was showing signs that the baby could have Down's. I again told him no. You get what you get.

As far as extra testing because I've had losses I want nothing extra. I see dollar signs with the costs of extra testing. Aside from the extra u/s testing that they'll do (yay-- extra times seeing the baby!) I'm not doing a thing. Not even blood tests to track numbers. UNLESS the doctor wants me to because something doesn't seem right to him.

My doc prefers to track me with ultrasound when I get pregnant. Starting at around 6 weeks and I get weekly scans from there. He said the numbers don't help much because you can see more of what's going on with the scans. I am glad for that because I like being able to see a heartbeat, a baby, a yolk sac and what not. Other than that there isn't much we can do....

My doctor is going to monitor me very closely, extra blood work multiple times, more ultrasounds and also possibly bed rest for the first trimester.

I think my doctor is not doing more than last time but I could be wrong as I have not seen him since the post op appointment. I will see him on Thursday afternoon and I will talk to him about that then.

My Dr said when I found out to contact him immediately and we would start doing blood tests and an early ultrasound at over 6wks cause I had a suspected eptopic lasttime, but with my insurance I have to go get a statement from another center proving I am pregnant before they cover me so it normally takes a while.. We shall see.
