I've just ordered a new awesome BBT thermometer... I have to say I loooove charting. I love tracking that O day.... but if I am waiting for O to show up on my chart, that means i know the days when I need to BD extra hard... Last month it was exhausting and i can't say I enjoyed baby making that much (my chart had an unusual dip on a wrong day which made us have sex every day for more than a week)... Of course all those efforts payed off with a BFP but it all ended in another m/c .

So, do you think it's even possible to be NTNP while still charting? I love to chart but i do not want to count the days DPO again or to know the exact days when BDing becomes "a duty". I wish I could just relax and stop thinking about babies... I wish I'd never learned charting!

imo it is impossible to chart and ntnp. i have lurked on that board and i see woman charting and using opk's ..... if you know when you o and you bd during that time... that is TRYING LOL! - perhaps if you know when you o and you only bd once and that is b.c you really want to, then it qualifies, but i have yet to run into a woman who knows when she o's and only bd's one time

to me, ntnp is just having sex when you want regardless of what time of the month it is and not using anything.

whatever you decide to do, i hope the end result is a BFP!!!!

I'm on the spectrum of where I think it's ok to chart while NTNP so you can keep in that "routine" of temping every morning. Once you get out of the routine it's hard to get back into it (for me anyway)

So if you're NTNP, just don't "chart" it and keep temping so you're continuously in that routine.

I was ntnp and then I decided to chart for a little bit and I also tried opk's for a little bit. I didn't change when I dtd, because I didn't tell my dh when I was Oing and he usually initiates. I really just did the charting and opk to see if my body was doing what it was supposed to be doing and not to ttc. At the time I was not as eager to get pg right away, so I still consider it ntnp. However, now that baby fever has officially hit me, I can't see charting and using opk's and ntnp going together!

I agree...I think it is impossible to do both...The whole time you are charting you have in the bacck of your mind an internal counter tracking the DPO and all that... It just doesn't work...

I agree with all the other ladies that if you are charting your temps then you are trying.. Now I agree with Celena on the area that you can temp just not chart it, and then that can still be considered NTNP.. I have O pains so I always k now when I am Oing.. Good luck to youhun. I am sorry to hear about your loss last wk. Hang in there.

We are NTNP and I am charting...for one...to see if my cycle is back to normal after the m/c. Second, I like being in the habit of temping/charting so if/when we get our BFP, I can take a guess at the gender depending on when we BD'd and I O'd.

But....we had a discussion last night and DH is thinking since we had the m/c, it wasn't meant to be yet....therefore thinks we should wait til originally planned to TTC (when our youngest turns 2 in October)....I don't like that so I compromised by telling him we can NTNP until June then officially start TTC then (I really want a spring baby...so that will give us a few months of trying to hopefully acheive my wish)!!

And I told DH to make it seem like we are not TTC yet....he is only allowed to initiate sex! lol Otherwise, if I do, then yes, I feel like we would be TTC....
So....in my eyes, we can NTNP and still temp/chart.

I agree with you Juliann, I want to chart to see if my cycle is back to normal... I am actually thinking of putting temps in FF but not looking at the whole FF chart, then we could NTNP and I wouldn't even know my O day..... but I'd have my BBT statistics gathered at the same time .

Honestly, I don't REALLY think I can NTNP anymore, even if I don't chart. I just automatically keep track of the CD# in my head, and that ruins it. But the idea of having only DH initiate sex is a good one! Good luck with whatever you decide!
