AF After a M/C help????

Hey guys, I had a m/c on the 15th of February. Well, that's the first day I started bleeding. Drs called it a Chemical Pregnancy. I still haven't had my AF and I'm just wondering...I know they say it's normal to have one 4-6 weeks after a miscarriage, but when do you start counting that 4-6 weeks? is it like the day you stop bleeding after the miscarriage that you start counting? or like your period, do you start counting from the day you start bleeding? What happens if I don't have one this month? what if I don't have one in the 4-6 wk window? I'm not sure how this works, this is the first and I pray the only one I've had.

Hello there and welcome to TTCAL!

You count CD1 from the first day you started bleeding, like you do with an AF.

I can tell you right now in total I'm on CD40, even tho FF puts me on CD25 it's because I've bleeding on/off/on for 35 days of 40 and I'm still getting pink/tan discharge still. I've yet to get an AF, but would normally get them every 29 days.

So hang in there... have you POAS to see if it's negative yet or have your beta hCG drawn?

If you don't have a period within 6 weeks of the start of your m/c bleeding, you could give your doctor a call. Doctors will have different approaches, some might do some testing or give you something to kickstart a period right away, others might wait for 8 weeks, or even 12 weeks. You should do whatever makes you feel comfortable.

AF after a m/c is definitely an individual thing, though. Some people's cycle just takes a while to come back or get to normal. I hope AF shows for you soon.

It took me 13 weeks before I got AF. I had my m/c in Dec and am still getting positive pg. tests. I bled/spotted for 10w2d and finally stopped bleeding for about 19 days. Then I got AF. Everyone is different and I believe a lot of it has to do with the type of m/c you had. I had a molar pg. so my hcg was a lot higher and takes a lot longer to reach neg.
