So, as some of you know, I've been sick. i'm really getting tired of it. Just as I think I'm getting better...I get worse. It's creeping into my chest now, making me cough a lot, giving me a sore throat.
So, in my attempts to "drink more fluids," I want to drink some hot tea. Now, i'm really werid and particular with my tea. I mainly like mint/peppermint tea. My question is: Are these types of tea "safe" to drink when TTC? I read on another thread/site that peppermint tea can help sway gender, but then I also read that it can make one get her period faster. Obviously, we don't want that, unless I need it!
right now, i'm around CD 16. My OPKs are still negative. I'm not temping this cycle, so I really don't know exactly when I'll O. Plus, with my being sick, my temps wouldn't help much, I bet.

Anyone have any advice/info about these kinds of teas? Any good websites to help guide? I want to feel better, but I don't want to give my body any extra reasons to not get pg!

thanks!

Why are you to avoid peppermint when you are pregnant? - Yahoo! Answers
This is what I found regarding the peppermint tea that you asked about. All in moderation for the intake of tea or any caffienated drinks. I hope this helps some.

Thanks. As your article/post said, it reminded me that women who are pregnant with a history of M/C should avoid peppermint. Question is, do you avoid it when you are NOT pregnant, but trying? i dunno. So many rules, guidance, etc.

Hmmm, my post disappeared! LOL~!

Okay I wanted to throw some info out there.... I have worked in the health, natural foods & holistic healing center off/on for 12 years. Just going to say that allot of those warnings are said because of consumers taking way more than they are supposed to, or abuse. Allot of times if you follow the dietary suggestions it's ok.... (not all herbs are ok for TTC & PGy) You'll be ok drinking some peppermint tea, but in moderation. Even some Traditional Medicinals cold teas are ok, but I wouldn't make that your main source of liquids.

Celena - thanks for the "inside" info! I kinda figured the moderation was key. I was just looking at tea as another way to get my fluids in...I drink ice water most of the work day. A lot of milk at home. An adult beverage here and there when out. (but not when i know i'm pg! - which i'm not - YET!)

Tobi - good to know. And I just ran out of Green tea...so I will leave that one off the shopping list - for now.

thanks for all the help and suggestions ladies! I knew you were the right people to ask!
