IUD USERS HAVE MORE MISCARRIAGES.

TRUE:
IUD users have twice as many miscarriages as do nonusers. Your doctor should remove your IUD immediately if the strings are still visible. After removal of an IUD with visible strings, the miscarriage rate is about 30 percent.

IUD'S USERS HAVE MORE OF A CHANCE OF HAVING AN ECTOPIC PREGNANCY

TRUE:
Ectopic pregnancy (a pregnancy developing outside the uterus) occurs more often among IUD users than among those women who use the Pill, diaphragms, condoms, or spermicides. Ectopic pregnancy happens more often in women with a Progestasert® IUD than a Copper-T. If you have severe one-sided pain with an IUD, you should contact your health care giver immediately. You could have an ectopic pregnancy.

Celena, am I wrong, or does this sound like women who get pregnant with the iud in place still? It seems the wording suggests that the iud is still in place?

It seems like its referring to the fact that pregnancy can still happen while using the pill, diaphragms, condom, or spermicides.........same true for the iud, but the iud obviously has alot more to do with the lining and implanting of the baby, causing a higher rate of miscarriage if implantation does happen or ectopic, due to the fact that its nearly impossible to implant in the womb with an iud in place.

Just trying to hopefully give you some peace of mind, since you obviously dont have an iud anymore. I had one for 5yrs too, removed right before my three losses last year........it was the Paraguard (copper). I dont "think" it contributed to my losses, just coninsided with the same time I had them, if that makes any sense.

I agree though. It sounds like it is still in place when the women get pregnant.

I always wondered if the IUD had something to do with the miscarriages I had.. I had the mirena and I had it removed in Jan 2009 miscarried in May and Aug 09. I read in the Taking charge of your fertility that an IUD can cause a cervix infection that if left untreated can cause a miscarriage alsoo.. It is really scary..

That is really scary. I had one just months before my first loss....that would be terrible if that is the reason I have miscarried....sad sad sad...

Lori THANK YOU, I needed to hear that... I've been doing too much reading lately. As with anything it is opinonated. Perhaps that it is from pregnant IUD users, idk, but like you I had a paragard and had it in for about 5 yrs. All of this just scares the ***** out of me and sometimes like now because of the emotional state I'm in my internal peace with all the babies I've lost gets shaken/rattled up. But in my heart and mind I know you're right! I appreciate you Lori, thank you and love you bunches! Rub that belly and sing the lil one a lullby from me

Lisa... don't get too worried, I think you'll be fine especially since you're having it short term. I had mine in as long as Lori did, 5yrs. I probably would have had it in longer if DH wasn't so adiment about TTC for so long before I got it out. LOL!!! Hang in there I totally think you'll be fine

Lindsey & Julie... we'll never know that's for sure. It's just one of those things and it happened to usl unfortunately multiple times. We're strong women and we will one day hold our little miracles as well as our graduates have and will be...

I'm sorry if I upset or worried anyone, just was in a weak place reading this last night and it freaked me out! I replaced the TTC after IUD board (it closed) with a group and research/post information over there for the members/lurkers, came across that and BAM! instant freakage.
