I just had the Mirena inserted today. I am thinking of having them remove it though when I go for my followup in 3 weeks. It kinda scares me the more I think about it. Not to mention I already have a headache and I am pos. it is from that. They told me they weren't going to give me the one with the hormones in it but I think they did.

Which IUD did you get?

Did you cramp and bleed when they inserted it?

After you had it removed how long did it take for you to get pg?

Did you have irregular periods after having it removed?

From what I know of Mirena, it does have hormones...

I had the Paraguard (non-hormonal) as this was the only type of bc I could use due to a cancer history. I did cramp a little after it was inserted, but only for the first day. My periods were heavier due to the IUD irratating the lining.....my cylces were normal, as I still ovulated every month and I was very regular. I had the IUD taken out in Jan of 09, conceived the week after removal, and had a chemical prgegnancy that month. The following month, Feb, I conceived again....but lost that baby at 9.5wks, baby passed away at 8wks........conceived again in Sept of 09, partial ectopic.

I dont believe my IUD had anything to do with my m/c's at all. Well maybe the first one, as my lining may of not of been ready for implantation a week after removal. But the other two, I believe were due to being a bad pregnancy to start with. Once I have this baby, I plan to put the Paraguard back in again until I dont menstrate anymore. I dont plan to have any other children, but even if I did, the Paraguard would be my first and only option for bc. I loved it. Best bc I have ever used in my life ( a long one at that, lol!)

See I just read that it has hormones too unless I read it wrong. Makes me mad b/c I told them I had so many problems with bc pills before.

I had headaches almost every single day (about 5 days a week), at least 1-2 migraines a week.

Sinus infection
allergies
uti
yeast infections
asthma
ovarian cysts
**pain during intercourse (didn't start until like 3 years later though)

I am sure I could list more

Which IUD did you get?I had the Mirena

Did you cramp and bleed when they inserted it? Yes and I bleed some..

After you had it removed how long did it take for you to get pg?I had it removed in Jan 2009 I had very long cycles after removal finally got regulated and got my first BFP May 09. I miscarried that one, and then got pregnant again end of July 09 and miscarried that one.. The first miscarriage I believe was in fact due to the IUD but the second I think it was just to close to the first miscarriage..

Did you have irregular periods after having it removed? I have had normal periods, just sometimes I will have a long cycle and then it will be normal or I will have a shorter cycle.. So it varies..
