I've always thought that we count the first day of m/c as 1 of the first cycle. I've just read that this is not considered a first cycle and that it's just a "healing cycle"..only the period that comes in 4-7 weeks after m/c is a beginning of a first cycle after m/c. So if i was told to wait for 1 period, that means waiting almost 2 months, right? hmmm I am confused.

My doctor said that I was supposed to wait one full cycle before TTC. She said that it was best to wait one cycle to allow the lining to shed one more time to make sure it is healthy enough to sustain a pg this time.

I miscarried on February 1st and got my first AF after that on March 8. I count March 8 as CD1 so five weeks after my m/c. It felt like forever at the time but now it's not so bad. I hope the witch stays away for awhile now!!!

No, the first day of a m/c is not CD1. The first day of your next period after the m/c is CD1.

If you would get pregnant right after a m/c (before your regular period), you wouldn't be able to determine your due date based on LPM. That is one of the reason one should wait for one cycle before trying again.

Hope that wasn't too confusing

Thank you ladies for explaining this! I understand it now I had to change all the labels on fertilityfriend cycles since i used to label them with the wrong # after loss.. Since this is a case, I'm still waiting for CD1.

Well what I was told by several doctors, nurses between a regular OB's office and the perinatologist they said the first day of bleeding from miscarriage, pregnancy loss is counted as CD1 or as an (LMP) So that is how I go about it. FF will start you on a new cycle when you check miscarriage and L/M/H flow. (spotting does not count as CD1)

correction.... It isn't used to "date" a pregnancy as you should wait until af arrives allowing your body time to rebuild.

Sorry to give you conflicting information, this is what I've gone by since several of my Dr's told me to do so.
