Sorry if I get annoying with my questions, i've just never had to deal with anything like this, and never paid attention to things concerning a D&C before, i'm also having a hard time finding info that I want online...How many cycles did you wait after a D&C to TTC?...When I had Ella I only had 2 periods before I got pregnant, but I gave birth to her, and i'm not sure if your uterus is different after a D&C than after giving birth? I know the nurse told me they cleaned everything out, but what does that mean, is it just back to normal now? size etc? I've read that some people TTC right away, but what are the risks? I just don't understand what's going on inside right now and i'm just too scared that i'd get pregnant again and it would happen all over and i'm just trying to decide how long I want to wait to TTC...If anyone has any info please share it with me, thanks!

I had a d&c and my Dr. told me that I could TTC as soon as AF returned. She saw no reason to wait. Some will tell you to wait 1 or 2 cycles to allow the lining to build back up, but I believe if your body isn't ready, you won't get pregnant.

the lining of the uterus can be scraped pretty thin during a d&c, I think that is why most doctors tell you to wait. I waited until my first AF to start trying just to be safe.

I am in the same boat, have lots of questions about everything that has to do with loss and D&C. My doc told me there is no reason not to try again except for the purpose of last mens cycle and due date caculations. He also added I will know when I am ready. I think we will wait till June/July. Just had D&C 03/17.

I'm seeing my doctor in 2 weeks, but he's already told me he wants me to wait 6 months since i've been threw 2 losses in the last 6 months...He's worried how i'm going to handle things emotionaly...He did tell me when I lost Ella in October to wait 6 months and I didn't....I'm not going to lie to him this time, i'm going to flat out say that i'm going to TTC and ask what the risks are...If I TTC in the next couple of months it would be my 3rd pregnancy in a year, I just hope my body can handle it....I want to know facts and risks, not just what he thinks.

Like Marti says, the uterus gets scraped thin. But other than that I don't see any reason to wait. My OB wanted me to wait 3 cycles and I just laughed at her. We had sex 5 days after my D&C. We are TTC immediately (D&C was Feb. 5th).

I was 9 wks when I had my d&c and my doc told me to wait 1 cycle. It seems to depend on how far you were and your doctor... Good luck!

I had my D&C at 12w2d, and my OB told me to wait until first AF. My primary doctor told me to wait 3 cycles. My first cycle ended up being 75d, and we couldn't wait, and tried that cycle. There is conflicting information out there, but waiting 1 cycle seems to be most common.
