DH and I decided to start getting the nursery prepared as a step of faith. I just feel like it would be a postive thing. Has anyone done this?

The only bad thing would be to have the nursery set up get pg and then have another m/c. That would be so bad. But I just want to have faith that we will get pg and have a baby.

I think you are brave. I would be way too concerned I would be jinxing things. We're working on all the home improvement projects we said we would complete before kids take all our money.

What a lovely idea Thinking positive is always a good thing.

We don't have the nursery set up yet but I do have the room planned out and I often think of colors/themes etc.

So exciting

How exciting for you.

I dont think I could do it just yet. It will be too much of a painful reminder right now.

I think its wonderful. I think that it will help keep your spirits up while ttc, knowing that you will have a sweet little one occupying the room that you created with love and faith before even being conceived! Truthfully, I think that if you were pregnant, and setting up the nursery for that baby, then something happened, that room would become a very sad place, but you are setting it up in anticipation of a baby not yet conceived. I think having the room, before the pregnancy, in some way protects the nursery from becoming associated with a particular pregnancy and becomes all about a healthy happy baby. Did I explain that alright? I hope you know what I mean.
I think its great and hopefully it helps to lessen the stress/fear we will all feel, in addition to the excitement about getting pregnant again.
~~hugs~~ Happy Decorating!!

I like what Tobi said. I think it's a great idea. I have a room set aside for a future nursery and we've been collecting things for baby for the last 3 yrs that we've been TTC. I have been thinking a lot lately about painting it and getting it all set up. The way I see it is that someday we will have a baby even if it's by means of adopting, and maybe by painting and setting it up, it will give me more hope and keep me busy.

brandi - it's wonderful that you have such a positive outlook!!! I think it's so important to stay positive... However, like you stated, I'd be crushed if I miscarry again.... or if I have trouble getting pregnant... It would be a constant reminder of what I don't have. I've even packed away my pregnancy books.

I admire your optimism. Best of luck and sending baby dust your way!!!!

I am having a hard time with this... We have a room.. that has been our "overflow" room.. if it dosen't have a home.. it goes to that room.. I have had three losses... and while yes this is the farthest I have made it..... I just can't bring my self to start cleaning it out.. I just open the door.. look and close the door.. I haven't taken anything out... I am just still so nervous about getting excited and getting a nursery ready.

I have a nursery set up already because I watch a little girl most of the time and its set up basically for her. I'm not sure if I didn't watch her though if I would set up a nursery as for me it would be too painful.

We have a room designated as the nursery. It was painted years ago but nothing else has been done. I do not feel ready to decorate mine until I know for sure that we have a baby coming.
If decorating and setting up your nursery of what is to come then I say go for it. Happy Decorating!!

With my second loss my mom suggested this. She reminded us that we already know how we want to decorate it and we already know that we WILL be parents (some day some how) so she thought it would help take my mind off all the negative we have gone through and remember the positive that will come. I couldn't do it.

And not I am newly into my 2nd trimester and I still have not even thought about the nursery. It's just not time yet. As I say that I know we will probably clean it out and paint soon.

If you can do it and you want to do it I say go for it. Just remember why you are doing it - for your future! No matter how long it takes for it to happen there WILL be a baby sleeping in that nursery!
