I know you aren't supposed to get tattoo's while pregnant, but I was wondering if it's safe to do while TTC?

I'm thinking since i'm going to wait till after my first AF that it's a good time to go get Ella's footprints/handprints tattooed, but I don't want to if it's not safe (like if the ink goes into your blood etc)...I really want them tattooed, but i'm kind of scared too....I got a tattoo when I was 18 (12 years ago), but I don't really remember much, except it did hurt.

Hi Megan...

You're safe to get a tattoo while TTC (my DH is a tattoo artist and I'm apprenticing) even if you've conceived say you're 5dpo there's no way that it would have any effects on the rapidly devlouping cell ball of that LO because it's not implanted... there's no placenta for which blood passing to-fro and so there's no crossover or effects.

I'm going to tell you right now that I've been planninga huge chest piece and some little ones as well... however I'm wondering if they'll ever get done at this pace! LOL! I've actually read that at this day and age being that shops are health inspected & regulated along with the advancement of pigments being natural that it's not unsafe to get tattooed while pg. ALTHO generally most/majority of shops will not tattoo pregnant women just because... so there ya go, hope this helps!

Megan, you'll be just fine getting a tattoo. Like Celena said, it's perfectly safe. I'm already planning my 8th tattoo and plan on getting it soon.

I agree! I got one for my son on his 1 year angelversary!
