My appointment is on Friday and I want to be prepared...Last time I went in for my post check-up and was pretty much tight lipped (except when I was crying)...This time I want to be more prepared, I want to ask questions, and I want to know about tests they've done on me (and tests they haven't done), I want to know what I can do to make my body ready for another pregnancy (3 pregnancy's in a year is a lot on a body)...The only thing is, I'm very quiet and I never know what to say...I've been thinking of things in the last 2 weeks, but haven't wrote them down...I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas for me? Should I ask for a prescription for folic acid (I'm already taking some) or special prenatal's? I don't know if they will have a cause for the last baby's death, so it's hard for me to know what to ask.

HUGS... Things that you can ask.. are..

Like you said.. what results from your testing has shown? Is thier any other testing that can be done or should he refer you to a specialist?

Folic Acid is never a bad thing... and every women in child bearing years should be on Folic Acid. As for a Prenantal.. Prescription Prenantals.. and 1mg of Folic Acid.. while over the counter usually has 800mcg. so the precriptions have 200mcg more than the over the counter.

I would ask when you can try again... followed by... what if I m/c again.. than what? And see if a "Plan" can be set up.

If they have the answers to why you have had later losses.. what can be done to keep this from happening again. If they were both lost from a chromosomal issue.. you might want to see a genetic councler. Also might want to have the blood work done for both you and dh/so.

Have you been tested for the clotting fators? If not these are just bloodwork so nothing invasive.

Also have they done the swab testing for infection? Infections can also cause m/c.

That is all I can really think of right now.. I hope your appt goes well HUGS

Thanks Kary! I'm going to start making my list of things to ask tomorrow...You gave me some great ideas!

I know that they tested me for infections when I lost Ella, but i'm not sure what they tested me for this time...When I lost Ella they took like 12 viles of blood, this time it was only 3 or 4....I was already told to wait 6 months, but as long as nothing is wrong with me, i'm not going to wait...I am going to ask if they tested for blood cloting...this time i'm not going to wait almost 6 months to know anything.

Hugs. Kary gave great ideas.

If you can't talk about them with your doctor you could hand him your list and you can go thru it together

Good luck on Friday Megan

Kary gave you some great questions. I'm sort of having the same issue about my appt on Tuesday. I want to make sure the GYN Dr. does all the bloodwork possible for his office and if I don't get any answers from there, then DH and I will seek out a genetics counselor and a Fertility specialist if needed. I hope it doesn't take long to get the results from the Dr.
