So I went to my family dr on Wed for allergies. I haven't seen him in forever so he didn't know I had the 2 m/c's. I told him and he was shocked. He asked what bw the dr did on me and I told him he only did betas and I had to go to the er just to have an ultrasound, rh testing, and to find out what my blood type was. He couldn't believe the dr didn't do anything else. When I told him I was only 4 1/2 wks the 1st time I m/c and the dr told me to wait 3 mo his mouth dropped. I told him that I figured since I wasn't that far along that there was no need to wait. He AGREED WITH ME! And I told him that he also said that the reason why I m/c the 2nd time was 'cuz I didn't wait and he told me to fax all of my paperwork from that office to him asap and that that wasn't true! He then told me about a story about a cow. Weird I know, but it made sense. He said there was this cow that was worth like a million dollars and everytime it got pregnant it would end up dropping the babys in the field, basically m/c'ing. He said that there was many places that tried to help but no one found out the reason until this one dr said to give it molasses and thyroid something (I couldn't remember if it was a shot or what) and it ended up having full term pregnancies after that. So he said there could be something wrong with my thyroid! He said that he has a few ideas and that we're gonna get to the root of the problem. I was almost in tears at my appt.! I couldn't believe that my family dr wanted to do more than a dang obgyn! Let's just say I won't be going back to that quack! I just wanted to post this because there is hope. Ever since this last m/c I have felt like I don't even want to try again 'cuz I can't handle another m/c, and he made me feel like there is hope that I can actually stay pregnant. Sorry so long, just had to share!

Yes I believe that there is always hope and it is a matter of finding out what the issue is. I have also learned along this journey that some doctors just aren't worth their weight in salt. I understand that some things might go beyond what they know or their medical experience and expertise, but I think they should be humble enough to at least refer you to someone else if they don't know how to help.

Blessings to you and (((hugs)))

Im so glad you are feeling hopeful again, Lindsay! I wish you luck, it sounds as though someone is finally going to get to the bottom of it all, and help you find success! Good news, girl!

I'm happy to here that your family Dr. is helping you. Your GYN sounds unconcerned when s/he should be. I don't think you should give up hope. Believe me, I know it's hard. I've been through 3 losses and since this most recent one I've felt ready to give up, but I also have this urge to conquer what ever is wrong and show myself that I can have a baby. I need to do it no matter how hard it gets. I deserve this!!

Fantastic Appt! I think Family Dr's aren't always given enough credit. Yes they're jack of all trades but I think they often look at a person more holistically and judge things differently. Maybe it's because they are less blinkered and don't have a specialty as such.

It does make me miss my old family Dr though. The practice got taken over just after I got my BFP and now I can't find her..... She was brilliant and found I had thyroiditis just before I was about to go into surgery for a problem with the tendons in my wrist (who knew the two were related?). We got my thyroid under control and the problem in my wrist magically disappeared! She was also smart enough to see beyond the happy exterior and ask the one question that had me break down in tears and finally accept that I was struggling with depression again.

Family Dr's are definitely underrated IMHO.

It's great to hear that you are going to get some answers. I think the hardest part with my 1st 3 mc's was that i just didn't know what was going on.
