Sorry I think i've asked a question kind of like this before...I think AF might of just started, but how do you know if it's not just more bleeding from the D&C? I just went to the bathroom (Sorry TMI) and it was bright red...I haven't had red bleeding since the week of my D&C, and after that it was dark red/brown...I even had some dark red/brown bleeding the other day and that was just one time then it just went to a little spotting...I did have PMS symptoms on sunday too (very moody)....I just don't know if this is AF or just more bleeding...if it's AF i'd rather use tampons than pads, but i'm too scared to if it's not AF...Once again i'm sorry for my stupid long winded questions...I can't seem to find an answer online anywhere.

I think I read online that you have to stop bleeding for at least 2 weeks after a m/c for it to be your first AF. Have you stopped bleeding at all?

Yes I stopped bleeding for a few days, but my doctor told me last week that I could be starting my period any time (this was after I told him I was still bleeding)...I don't know what's going on and i'm frustrated...It was heavy and then slowed down, so i'm not sure if it's AF....If it continues to be red should I call my doctor? it's been 23 days tomorrow, it shouldn't be red should it?....I was told that you don't bleed for long after a D&C and it's been 23 days on and off now.

I think the only way to know for sure is when your next period comes. I had bleeding for a month after my D&C.

I can't beleive I'm seeing you here. I'm so sorry for you. We are going to try again next month.

Well it wasn't AF because now it's gone...Just more bleeding...I guess it happens every other day for me now...I'm going to call my doctor next week if it doesn't stop....I'm just so frustrated now!

I know for me that my period blood looked different than my loss blood. My loss blood was dark and deep red. My period blood just isn't like that that's how I knew. Mind you I had also stopped bleeding from the loss for a few weeks too.

Yes the blood I had yesterday looked different, it looked like the blood I had right after my D&C, bright red and just different looking...I didn't have a lot of red bleeding, mostly dark red and brown...So far today I have nothing...I also took an answer pregnancy test and it was negative ( was taking IC tests and they were negative, but I wanted to see on something a little better).

So I got a call from the Surgery center where I had my D&C and they wanted to know how I was doing...I told her about my bright red bleeding yesterday and how I don't think it's normal and she said "do you think it could be your period" and I told her no that i'm not having anymore bleeding today and it actually stopped last night...She said that it could be my period TRYING to come? has anyone heard of that?...It's just so annoying because my doctor said the same thing that I Could be getting my period last week...From what i've read you don't start a period right after your bleeding stops or if it hasn't even stopped...She told me that if I get it again I should call my doctor...I was already thinking I would any way...I'm just so worried that they didn't get everything out and i'm going to have to have another D&C and I seriously can't afford another one.

Oh Megan, what a frustrating ordeal you have going on here! I had my D&C on April 12th. I only spotted for about a week and a half but I wasn't as far along as you were, I was only about 6w this time. When I had my D&C last year I bled a lot more cause I was about 9.5 weeks along. Then the bleeding was heavy the first day and continued to slow for the next few days to nothing. I then went on to have a a little heavier than normal AF after 28 days. Right now I'm waiting for AF to arrive and that *should be* with in the next two weeks (I hope). I would definitely call your Dr. if your unsure. There may be some left over placenta or tissue causing you to still bleed. If you start running a fever, get to the ER, that means an infection. You know what, you should call your Dr. today and explain everything. It's been a while since your D&C and you shouldn't bleed like this now.

It's been 23 days...My doctor doesn't work today and I don't feel like calling and talking to whoever is on call, but if it starts up again i'm calling tomorrow when he's in...He did tell me that I could bleed for 4 weeks since I was as far a long as I was, but from what I Read bright red bleeding this long after isn't normal...It will be 4 weeks tuesday...if the bleeding lasts longer than that i'm going to demand to be seen I think.

I was 9 weeks along (baby 7w,4d) and I only spotted for 3 days, and it never came back. That sounds so frustrating! I hope you get some answers soon.

Sorry to be a bother again...Something isn't right ...I've had no bleeding today and about a half hour ago I got out of the shower and I was NOT bleeding...I blow dried my hair and straightend it and then went downstairs and felt a gush and ran to the bathroom and passed a large clot and now i'm bleeding really hard, bright red blood....I guess i'll wait and see if it continues or stops and maybe call my doctors office and at least talk to the nurse.

I wonder if thats the reason you stopped bleeding? Perhaps the clot was blocking your cervix enough that nothing was passing through? My first period after m/c was very heavy, dark red blood with lots of clots, so maybe as your Dr suspected, it is your period? Obviously, Im just guessing here, but I hope this is your period so you can move past this stage.

At this point, if you are soaking a pad with in an hour you should head over to the ER or call the Dr.'s office. Maybe it's what Tobi said and the clot was blocking your cervix... who knows. Keep us posted though.

Well I ended up calling my doctors office and talked to a nurse...She looked at my chart and info about my D&C and said that she thinks it is my period...I told her that I don't think it is...We talked for like 10 minutes about it...Any way she called and left a message while I was gone and said she talked to my doctor and he thinks it's my period too...So as long as I don't have anymore big clots (I get clots during AF any way) and i'm not soaking a pad (front to back) in an hour they said not to worry...If I do start bleeding that bad I need to go to the ER or call them in the morning...So really, I don't know if it's AF or if it's from my D&C...I guess I have to wait and see...I think i'm still bleeding and yesterday it didn't last this long so maybe the clot was blocking it?

Oh Megan, it sounds so frustrating for you. I was lucky and had clearly stopped bleeding before AF FINALLY showed. However, that was really different to my normal periods. Much heavier, clotty and lasted much longer than usual.

I hope you get some resolution to all this soon.

Honey I'm sorry that things are so fricken confusing. I'm no help as far as af after D&C, but I can say each af or two after my losses were so clotty and HEAVY HEAVY. I bleed heavily anyways, but these were different.

No bleeding today UGH ....That bleeding I had yesterday was NOT normal and it wasn't AF, and i'm just so annoyed that the nurse wouldn't listen to me on the phone...I'm just worried it's going to start up again this weekend when they are closed....I don't want to have to pay to go to the ER...I'm going to be gone almost all day today, but i'll catch up and update you all later...I might call and talk to her again.
