So I get home from work today to see my 11yr old daughter in tears. During lunch break at school today she was playing tug of war with a bunch of other kids and her team was winning so one of the girls on the other side (Ill call her B) starting smacking my dd on the arms. DD said "Why are you hitting me? So B slapped her right across the face and started kicking her. DD tried to hold B off of her but kept getting kicked so dd ran to get away. B followed her and was threatening to whip dd with a skipping rope and have her big brother beat up my dd.
Im furious, I called the school. The B lives in my townhouse complex and Im thinking of going to her house to tell them Im considering placing a call to the police dept for assault. IM SO ANGRY! I think the absolute worst thing about being a parent is having to let your children go, where you cant be there to protect them. She should be safe at school!!

That is horrible.. I would be visiting the parents and tell them if it happens again you are going to do something legally.. I am not there yet, but I couldn't even imagine.. School is suppost to be a safe place and when your kids are getting hurt it makes you second guess that.. HUGS hun.

Your poor DD, I would be so angry as well. I would consider talking to the parents to let them know what their child did, and I hope the school plans on taking care of the childs actions as well. I'm sorry you have to deal with this.

I'm sorry for you Tobi and DD! Hopefully if the school doesn't take action, the parents will.

That is horrible. I would visit the parents and if they don't act bothered I would call the police. I cannot believe that she is doing that at this age.

I was just saying to someone yesterday, what is wrong with kids today, why aren't they afraid of getting in trouble.
I would definitely report it to the school and let her parents know what she did.

What a horrible thing! There is no excuse for that kids behavior. I am so sorry Tobi and I hope your DD is ok.
I would talk to the child's parents and if they do not seem bothered then take the action of talking to the school and legal action as well.
Massive Hugs to both you and your DD.

I am so sorry Tobi. The schools just don't care anymore and with all of the "child protective laws" they are afraid to take any action. The teachers try hard but without the backing of the parents to discipline their children their hands are tied. Two years ago my oldest son was jumped by 2 kids on school grounds. They beat him and stole his psp (or whatever hand gaming device he had). The school did absolutely nothing. I took him out of school for a week so he could recoup and get his bearings together and they sent me a letter saying they were taking ME to court for his non-attendance. I fought with the school board and everyone just ignored me... we moved up to PA a few months later.
I am not saying my boys are perfect, but I do hold them accountable for their actions. So many parents do not....
I hope she is ok, it is heartbreaking as a parent to go through this.

I'm livid for you Tobi.
My biggest fear is school and the thought of letting my children go. It scares me to death.

Isabelle, are you a SAHM? If you want to home school your children the state of PA has the BEST homeschooling program in the country. And it is entirely free! I currently homeschooling my oldest son and it has been the best experience.

that's just AWFUL! does the school not do anything about violence? I know that our school district has a no tolerance for it...Have you called the school? If I were you I wouldn't confront the parents just because that might cause something more, but I would be at the school demanding something be done about it...I'm really sorry for your daughter...I have an almost 11 year old and a 9 1/2 year old...My 2nd daughter is always having problems with kids being mean to her, and I've been on the phone with the school many many times...Kids can be so cruel.

That is horrible. Where was the school staff? There are always teachers on the playground with our kids. I would be furious. I would make a visit to the parent of the other child, but I would also contact the school. That kind of stuff should not go unseen and if nobody does anything then go to the police. The school can get into big trouble for this. I'm so sorry for your dd. I was watching a presentation about how kids today are warped by video games and tv. They are seeing too much violence at a young age. I was horrified! It really makes you think about what you allow your children to do/watch.
