A few days ago I was looking through my test results from after my m/c. My hcg levels went down very slowly, so they had given me an u/s to look for potential retained tissue 2 months after my D&C.

I noticed that the report also included the sizes of my ovaries, so I decided to try to figure out if they were in a normal range. Turns out that average ovary size is 3 cm x 2 cm x 1 cm and both of my ovaries were about 5 cm x 4 cm x 2 cm. A lot of the sites I found reported it in total volume of the ovary. The average volume was 10 cm/ ovary... mine were 19 and 23. That seems abnormal, but no one had said anything about it.

Then yesterday I was looking through the info sheet my Dr gave me for when I start Clomid cycles, and he includes a CD1 u/s to monitor for cysts and ovarian hyperstimulation (OHSS). He says on the sheet that if either ovary is larger than 5 cm, they don't do Clomid that cycle. Well one of my ovaries was bigger than 5 cm on my previous u/s.

Does anyone know anything about what this might indicate?

I will call and ask my Dr this question, but sometimes the TTC ladies actually have better info

I would guess that if your ovaries are larger normally they would base the possibility of OHSS on that. If your ovaries are too small it is a sign of menopause (it is one of the things that is happening to me)... I am not a doctor but from what you are telling us it all sounds good!
