I saw my doctor today for my follow up. He said that my D&C went very easily because I was already dilated. He said that it was a good thing that I went into the ER after bleeding so badly because there was still some tissue up there that he had to remove. He said it went very easily though and he didn't have to "cause damage" removing it because my body was already doing what it had to.

We talked about if/when we would TTC again or if I needed bcp or something. I told him we use condoms and we're on hold for about a year (most likely). I told him that I refuse to just stop using condoms again and hope for the best. I want answers because I've had three miscarriages.

The doctor said that since I had two successful pregnancies with my 1st husband he wants to have my dh tested first. He wants to check for chromosomal abnormalities with him. If he's fine he said he can do blood tests on me to check for something about anti-lupus something-or-other (the name totally escapes me) and other things.

I told him that I want to wait a year and then test before trying again. We left it that I'd call when I need him to order the testing.

Once I talked to my dh after the appt I got to thinking that I want the testing done now. If we both get tested and find out that we can't have a baby the old fashioned way, we're finished trying. We won't go to major lengths to get pregnant (donor sperm, surrogate, whatever) so if we can't, we will at least have that information. I don't want to wait a year, have the baby bug bite me, and then find out we can't have kids together. I would rather know now and then we just know and there's no more roller coaster.

I think I'm going to call the office tomorrow and ask what this testing costs and see if we can get tests ordered for both of us. I think right now answers would help me heal A LOT! Everything has been such a big question mark. I think I need to know...

Good luck, i'm hoping it's good results. You are thinking of the lupus anticoagulant. it's an easy fix if that is it. Good luck, i say get the testing done now. Better to have all of your information in front of you when you are making decisions.

I would definitely have the testing done - I couldn't go a year without knowing! At least if you identify the problem now, you'll have a chance to still have another baby, or at least know whether or not it's still possible. I'm so sorry you have to go through all of this; I can't even imagine how hard it must be to have so many losses.

Hugs, I can't imagine what you have been through. I hope the testing reveals what it going on so you can make a decision that you and your DH are comfortable with. I couldn't imagine waiting a year to know what is going on.

hey there! Was it anti lupus something or antiphospholipid? I had one normal pregnancy and then lost 3, after very extensive testing.... like 15 tubes of blood, they discovered that I have antiphospholipid syndrome, its a blood clot disorder. I don't have the text book symptoms, but somehow they figured it out. I then had two healthy baby boys, I had to take lovenox injections daily! So, I think they should test you now to. I had already had a perfectly normal pregnancy so you just never know! Hope this helps!

I think it is a great idea to get the testing done now. I think it would be a big relief to have your answers now and then you can move forward either way. I'm just so sorry that you had another loss. I wish you the best of luck and hope you find some answers.

I was just going to email you to see how you were holding up. Now I see you =)

I think that's a good plan. Go do the testing on him...if everything comes up fine, have it done on you. Seriously, tests and results and phone calls take so friggin long sometimes that you might find that it takes a year to go through this crap and if you wanted to TTC...your timing might be perfect. And you're right, if there was something that would prevent you, you'd want to know sooner rather than later.
