My hcg levels dropped from 24 to 19 and then I started spotting. I knew this was going to happen. This is the second M/c in a year with low progesterone. I have 4 kids and never had a problem with them. I got my tubes tied 5/2007 and found out I was pregnant 7/2009 with a m/c @ 7weeks. Testing showed my Right tube healed itself completely together making me fertile again. Only one m/c before and that was twins at 14 weeks before my 4 year old was conceived. I had low prgesterone with the 7/2009 baby I lost too. Why is my progesterone low? Why did I have two almost identicle m/c's? What causes low progesterone? What can be done? I want my dr to do testing. This is so heart breaking. I just wanna give up! Please help me.

I'm so sorry you are going through this ((Hugs))

I think with low progesterone they give you supplements the next time you get pg - they have to test you in the very beginning for it and then you take supplements through the first trimester.

Oh, I'm so sorry. You can get natural progesterone cream online or from a health food store. I use it every month after ovulation just to help. There's a good book on progesterone "What your doctor may not tell you about pre-menopause" by Dr. John Lee which was really helpful in understanding how important progesterone is in our bodies. There is some info on infertility/pregnancy in there as well.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. (hugs)

I'm sorry you are going through this. My friend had that and they just gave her a cream to use. I would talk with your doctor about it.

I'm sorry about your loss
I have heard that sometimes low progesterone is caused by a defective corpus luteum (this is what the follicle turns into after releasing the egg, and it produces progesterone), and if that's why there was low progesterone, the creams/supplements might help.
However, production of progesterone by the corpus luteum after pregnancy is also influenced by the HCG produced by the embryo. And if the embryo is not producing enough HCG (because it's not developing well for whatever reason), the corpus luteum will not produce enough progesterone. So sometimes the pregnancy is doomed from the beginning (because of the quality of the egg/embryo) and adding progesterone supplements in this case will only work to delay the inevitable m/c.
That's some info I was able to find in my research when I had my m/c..
Again I'm sorry for your loss.

I don't know about progesterone but I just wanted to say that I'm so sorry for your loss. I really hope that you can get some answers so you can get your sticky bean.

Hey there! I have lost 4 babies due to progesterone, and now that I am ttc, I have to start taking progesterone pills the day my opk is positive and take it until af arrives. And then when I get pg I will continue to take it until 13 weeks. I have taken anywhere from 200mgs daily to 600mgs daily. So definatly talk to your dr! I am so sorry for your loss!

I am sorry for your losses. I hope the doctor does some blood work and the cream/supplement will do the trick.

I am sorry for your loss hun.. I just had my 3rd miscarriage which I am still going through, and I too have suspected it is from low progestrone. I have read that some birthcontrols throw your cycle out of wack and it messes with all of that.. I hope you can get answers too..

I have also thought about trying the Over the counter progestrone creme you can buy. I figured it is worth a shot.. HUGS

HappyMommy2010 is there anything other than vaginal suppository form of progesterone? My doc said my insurance won't cover the injections and they are $40 a shot. IDK when I ovulate either. I don't know what to do. I took suppository progesterone starting with 4th day of AF not showing up and still had m/c I had isssues with the suppository staying up inside of me. I don't want to go through this ever again. Should I have my doc test anything specific?

Christina, I have heard of and seen over the counter progesterone cream sold at health food stores. And you can also order some online.

Another angle on this is one my ob mentioned when I asked about low progesterone as a possible cause (she said unlikely in my case though). She said sometimes, as mentioned above, the egg/ovulation quality isn't enough to cause our bodies to produce the right amount of progesterone. She's successfully corrected that in several women by using clomid. Even though they were ovulating on their own, the clomid produced a "stronger" O and lead to better natural progesterone production. She said that some doctors believe low progesterone is a cause while others believe it is a symptom. Just another thought to bring up with your doctor at any rate.

Christina, I use Happy PMS Cream which was highly recommended in the book I read. I guess it can get kinda confusing with all the synthetic/natural/soybased/yam based options out there, and knowing which one is really helpful. If you google it, you find it easily.

I'm sorry for your losses. Your Dr. can easily check your progesterone levels with a blood test at 7DPO. I used the vaginal suppositories, yes they are messy. My pharmacist said that your body will absorb as much as it needs then will expel the rest.

Thank you ladies for all your kind words. Just one more question, what happens when I have my progesterone checked at 7dpo?
