That is a loaded question. I don't think I could selectively reduce, so I don't know. I picked 4 becuase that is usually the most that happen when there is no medical assistance. I mean I guess you can get 5 babies naturally, but it is pretty un-likely.
So for me 4.

I would love twins but I think with my moms help we could handle 3.

I picked two... I couldn't even think of having anymore at one shot... The thought of having two... gives me angina... I never thought I would have anymore, than one at a time.

I picked 2 because I think that's all we could handle right now. (without having to move immediately, without racking up debt and while keeping our sanity)
Plus more than that is just tough - double strollers are easy to find, triple+ not so much and DH has to go to work so I'd be stuck at home all the time. Not to mention when they reach the "running" stage.
But I'd love twins!

I voted TWINS as well.... that would be IT, period, for us. Twins would be twice the blessing and right now I just pray we can have at least a ONE together. That would be such an amazing blessing!

Thank you so much ladies. I'm having a hard time deciding on how many embryos to implant. The Dr. recommends 2 and I'm considering 3. If all 3 took then DH and I would be done forever having children. If 2 took then we would consider one more down the road, if 1 took then we would definitely try for more. If none took, then I might not have children ever.
But here are other situations to consider like if we implant 2 or 3 theres always the chance of any of them splitting. 2 could split and we could have quads. 3 could split and we'd be doomed with the option of reducing and there are just so many things we need to really consider. I still have plenty of time before we make a decision, it's just really weighing on my mind right now.
DH even came up with the crazy notion of one embryos splitting into identical triplets. I told him to WATCH HIS MOUTH!!!
Thanks again ladies.

You really are thinking this thru very thouroughly Stephanie! You have really good rational to this.
If DH and I are to take that road in the future which it might be (who knows right now) I think we would probably transfer 3. If we were blessed with all 3, then so be it altho I'm sure if any of them didn't take we would be heartbroken, but if at least one did we would be so extatic. I don't know... that is difficult to plan on and of course I would want to do 3 because the chances would be higher at least one would take. Altho if all of them took, not sure I could handle all 3 I only have 2 boobs.
So I'm sorry I'm no help... gosh I'm going to talk to DH about this tonight and see what he says now that you have me thinking about the possiblities in the future. Then I'll have to edit this and add to it...

Thanks so much Celena. It helps to know that I'm not the only one out there. I feel the same exact way about this as you do. I would of course be heartbroken if all 3, 2 or 1 didn't take, but I feel that doing one more than just 2 gives us more of a chance of at least one taking. My DH feels the same way about this too. I'm just happy I've got the time to think about this right now.
Please let me know what your DH says Celena, I would love to hear it.

you betcha! Dh won't be home for another hour and a half so we're going to be doing some late night thinking, talking.
I'm glad to hear that your DH is on board with transferring as many as you are. That has to help make the decision even easier.

I agree with Celena...I would do three. A triplet pregnancy does not carry the stigma that it used to. My neighbor just had triplets at 34 weeks and all three babies were 4 pounds or more. They did great. 4 or more would be tough to get here safely and twins would be great...but for me 3 would be the ticket...
Good luck with your decision! Keep us posted...

Stephanie - What is your FSH? And are you using your eggs or donor? Have you spoken to your RE about the statistics of you getting pregnant? Me personally - I would definitely implant 3 just to improve my chances for 1. But then again I am much older and have high FSH.
Let us know what you decide!

My RE never mentioned my FSH, so I'm assuming it's fine. We are using my eggs, no donor's. My RE says I don't have a problem getting pregnant so my statistics are excellent. That's why I'm up in arms about transferring 3. There's a high chance that all 3 would take but not 100%.

I was lurking and just had to answer. I answered one, but with as sick as I get with one, I think any more would kill me.
In your case, I think three is fair. There's a girl I go to church with who transferred 3 and how has 3 beautiful little girls. She got Pre-e though and they had to deliver at 28 weeks (she is also diabetic though, so that put her at higher risk for pre-e). It's such a hard decision either way.
