So my HCG was 24, then 19, then I started bleeding, heavy, clots and all, then they called me today and said my HCG rose to 49 from Friday to Monday. ***?!!! Now they are conviced it's etopic! How does it drop, then more than double? I have been reading stories, about people losing a twin and keeping a baby. I am so scared, They said I might lose my right tube which is the only one I have! My left tube is blocked still from my tubal. IDK what to do~@!!!!!!! I have emergency surgery scheduled for Thurs 11am. I don't want to lose my tube. They think I have scar tissue in there cuz of my body healing right tube together from it being cut and tied in my tubal ligation. I am so scared. Have you ladies heard of dropping hcg then it rising again? I go in tomorrow for pre-op appointment with my doc, IDK I am so scared. What if there is a baby still? What is going on? I need help, advice, something! What should I ask my doctor tomorrow?!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
UPDATE June 9th 8pm:
Ok so my numbers monday were 49, now they are 57, so not a viable twin pregnancy. She said if the numbers were doubling then she would think an viable pregnancy made it through the bledding. So we dicussed my options and the DR (NOT MA WHO TOLD ME I HAD TO HAVE SURGERY) said that she wanted to give me a shot to dissolve the etopic pregnancy instead of surgery so I wouldn't risk losing my tube. After I get done with this and have a period she is going to schedule me for a hystopingogram (I think I got that right).... I had one before and that is how we knew that my right tube completely grew back together. I go in Monday and then Thursday next week for BETA draw to make sure my HCG is going back down to ZERO. My doc was very understanding and felt my pain as she knows I want another baby. She said she would do whatever she could to make sure this doesn't happen again. I am so relieved to not have to go through surgery. Thank you ladies for keeping me in your T&P. Hopefully this is over with soon. I am on day 5 bleeding. I am so ready for it to be over.
So sorry you are going through this. It is possible for hcg to rise. Have you had an u/s done to confirm anything or can you get one before Thursday?
Honey I'm so sorry, right now it's so early to even do an u/s to see if there is anything in your tube even just scar tissue they can't really see unless it's a super high level u/s. Plese don't be scared, I would ask for methotrexate to resolve any possible ectopic tho instead of surgery it's supposed to help preserve your fertility where as surgery can cause scar tissue... altho if they're going to do emergency surgery perhaps they'll remove any scar tissue along with the residual tissue causing your hcg to rise.
I faced much of the same fears as you... I saw my baby on the u/s screen many times before we absolutely knew s/he was in the tube. Being in my 9th week I guess it was late because I ended up with a totally blocked tube after all of it. Honey, it's better to resolve it now so that it doesn't effect you in the future ttc and pregnancy.
If you're scared out of your wits, CALL YOUR DOCTOR's they are there to answer any questions any time of day multiple times a day. Be well informed, ask about other options, ask about what exactly they're going to do to treat you honey.
I'm so sorry you're facing this right now, it's very devastating... praying that you don't have any effects on future fertility and pregnancy.
I'm really sorry to hear that you are going through this.
Yes it is possible for the HCG levels to drop and then go back up. I recently had an ectopic and my numbers looked like this: 120 - 124 - 42.9 - 321 - 915 (that's when I got operated). I lost my right tube but I believe that's because they waited too long.
It's really good that the doctors are taking it seriously and want to do something fast like that there is a good chance that you can keep your tube.
I had started bleeding as well and we believed that I was having a spontaneous miscarriage - untill the numbers started to go up again.
Thinking of you!!
Christina, I'm glad that they're going the methotrexate route... it will preserve your fertility and you'll return to normal fertility faster than with surgery. (at least that's what my perinatologist said) I'm sorry that you're going thru this. The up side is thank GOD they caught it now instead of later... the longer the pregnancy goes on in your tube the higher the likelyhood for scarring and blockage.
 I am truly sorry hon!
How long did you bleed? The reason I am asking is cause my second loss. I started bleeding with clots and all and I passed what I thought was the baby, and then a month later I went to my Dr to try to get answers on why I was miscarrying and he did blood work, and it turned out I was still producing the hormone.. They couldn't find the baby anywhere in my uterus or in my tubes but to be safe since my numbers were still rising they did the methotrexate injection even though I was already bleeding again.. That might've been the case for you, but either way I am happy that your DR is jumping on it and you are getting it taken care of. HUGS hun
