While I know none of this is really THAT bad in the grand scheme of things, I do wonder whether some days it would be better just to stick my head back under the duvet and pretend I forgot to get up!

My eczema has, after having been almost non existent since the last preg, has decided to return with full force. Mostly it's just your common, all garden eczema but on my hands particularly, it's arrived in the form of pompholyx eczema. Not only do I have hands covered in nasty fluid filled blisters which make me look like a leper but when I scratch and break them, my hands end up raw and itch even more. For those of you lucky enough to have normal skin and never have enjoyed the pleasure that is eczema, it feels SOOOOO GOOD to scratch it but then it bleeds and burns and you wonder why you did it. If it wasn't so hot, it might not be so bad but I've been trying to stay inside with the AC on as the heat just makes it worse.

So I'm bored too.

THEN I sliced the side of my thumb with one of our super sharp ceramic knives including about a 1/4" of nail, so now I have to have a bandaid on which increases the itchiness as I'm allergic to the adhesive. Those knives are so sharp I didn't even feel it - I definitely do now though!

THEN I decided I'd pour myself a glass of wine, (just the one!) which I know won't help the eczema but will help my mood and sore thumb. However, while actually looking at what I was doing, but it clearly not registering, proceeded to pour half a bottle of wine onto my countertop!

I really should have stayed in bed....

I have the same problem with my hands!!! I've been suffering with it since I was around 11 years old...*knock on wood*, I haven't had it in months, but I did have it in my last pregnancy, and I was too scared to use the cream on it, so I just suffered...It really is so painful, and it makes it hard to do anything...I know washing hands doesn't help it, but i'm a hand washing freak, so that usually makes it worse...Do you have medication for it? It doesn't help keep it away, but it helps it heal quicker....I usually get rid of one spot and start another, it's a never ending battle.

Hi Helen!
Eczema is such a difficult condition to control! I have it, not very bad at all, but my oldest ds had it so terrible one summer when he was small. It absolutley covered his legs, and it looked like ground beef he scratched so much! We tried the cortisone creams, aveno baths and everything else we could think of. It lasted the whole summer. Poor kid. Now the worst it gets is a splitting under his ear, but it responds really well to the cream. I hope you feel better and it clears soon for you! And good luck with the preseed and bfp this cycle!!

Helen I'm sorry it's one of those days.... it's like fricken dominos, one gets knocked down and then they all come crashing in

I second the notion of crawling into bed and forget about the rest of the day, oh and a chocolate bar!

I really am sorry about the excruciating eczema, painful wound & the loss of good wine but the day is over and onto a new day! Hope that it's a MUCH MUCH better day for you!!!
