I had my first appointment today, and it was ridiculous. I never even saw the MD. It was basically a welcome to our practice, this is how we work thing. I've been a patient there, but this was the first time I've been to them for a prenatal appointment. I switched physicians after my second miscarriage.
Last week they drew one beta and said it was fine, and that there was no need for another. This was the weird part. Then today the LPN tells me that it looks low. I said, "well, it was 13dpo." She kinda had a "Oh that's why..." remark. Well a little later she says, "It's lower than we like to see, so we're going to redraw it." Just how much use is it 5 days later?! Then she says that it'll take 48 hours....um hello, last week you had it the next morning! So she says, "Do you want me to call you?" HELLO!!!! Of course I want you to call me you dumb idiot! We're not talking about a cholesterol reading here, we're talking the difference between a viable or non-viable pregnancy and you're talking to someone who's had 3 miscarriages!!!!!
So I'm completely upset and scared. I want this so bad, and felt so good about it, and now I'm doubting it.

you will be in my T&P. I have to go in on Wednesday for the second draw of 48 hours. I hate the wait. I have a feeling everything will work out for you.

I am sorry that they did not make you feel comfortable and it was such a hard time but I hope those numbers go way up and you can start to enjoy your pregnancy again.

Sometimes I can't believe the crap that comes out of some nurses mouths. That is totally within the normal range! With this pregnancy my hcg was 65 at 12dpo. My doctor was so happy with that number and my progesterone level that they waited a week to draw again

Thanks girls! I heard back from one of the midwives at the practice, after HOURS of tears and screaming at the office staff. If one more person told me it takes days to get a HCG level back I was going to seriously hurt them!
The good news is they went up to 1163!!! She said she's so pleased with them (and they are higher than they were with any of my other pregnancies) so she doesn't feel the need to repeat them at this time!

the 2nd draw is indicative of a viable pregnancy so far and that they're doing what they're supposed to!
I'm sorry the lady was an asshat but if you have another problem with her I would talk to the dr about it or tell him/her about the info she's giving you.
