I was just wondering if anyone followed themselves after M/C with serial HPTs to see when you finally tested negative?
I took one the day the baby had passed (before I had my appt. with U/S confirming) but haven't since, and that was 19 days or so ago, and I passed the fetus 17 days ago. I have an appt. tomorrow for an exam and beta Hcg but I'm just wondering if we were to get PG this cycle would I be able to trust an HPT or would it still be positive from my M/C?
I was almost 8 weeks along.

It really varies with everyone on how long the hcg stays in your system and the type of miscarriage you had. If you are positive when you get it drawn tomorrow you can always have them check it 48 hours later.

I was finally clear almost 8 weeks following my D&C at 12 weeks. My doctor did weekly blood tests though.

I had an early natural miscarriage and my HGC was below 2 by the time I went to my doctors on Friday. So Monday to Friday it took for it all to leave my system.

With my last loss... My numbers were a bear to get down.. My body held on to the pregnancy... It took over 35 days to drop.. form 93... (that is the highest my levels got) I was stuck in the 50's for over a week. I also went for weekly blooddraws.. But I also used HPT's... I could gauge with how light the HPT was. knowing the last week and half my numbers were droping...

I had a 2nd trimester D&C, and I took HPT's almost daily till they went to negative...I'm goingto say that it was probably about 3 weeks before I got a negative test, but i'm not for sure, I can't remember.

It took 11 weeks for me to get back to negative after my D&C at 12 weeks. But everyone is different- like Lisa said, if it comes back positive, another draw at 48 hours will tell you if it's leftover hcg or a new pg.

Thanks Ladies.
I think I will pick up a few HPT's tomorrow after my appt just to have them around and I'll probably check one tomorrow or Thursday with FMU just to see what it shows. They won't get back to me until probably the end of the week or early next week with my Hcg results, and then only if I call.

Thanks ladies.
I took an HPT today (18 days post M/C) and it was totally negative. I also had a beta drawn today but won't get the results back for a few days.
I'm relieved it seems to be over so we can try again and if I get a BFP I'll know it's for real and not left over from my lost pregnancy.

You had me curious as I took a HPT 2 days after M/C & it was BFP & bothe lines very bright. I M/C on the 6/18 at 10 1/2 weeks. I had just had HCG a few days b4 at ER & it was 15,000. Anyways this thread had me curious so I took one this morning & it was positive but the preggo line was faint this time, so it might take me a bit to go down.

I had a D&C, and did not want to go back to the doc that did it. I took an HPT a week after the surgery, and is was already negative. I got a period a couple weeks later.

Thanks all. I got my beta results yesterday and they were "negative" which I think means less than 5 MU, (she left a message as I requested since I was out), so I guess that is good, that was 3 days ago. I'm 21 days out now, so I guess I just wait for AF to show...

I have before... it can be gruelling because you want it to be negative so you can move forward and you keep seeing positives
Every loss is different, each one of mine took varying lengths of time.
