I think I have posted about this before but need help deciding. I have a tumor in my lower left abdomen area. It seems to be growing some but not a lot. Its growing by cm. My Dr had told me it was my choice as to weather I wanted it out or not. When I seen my endo dr he was concerned about it and had me do a MRI. It had grown some and he seem to think it was quite a bit but my surgeon said it had not grown much. I think she was alittle offended that my endo was concerned and consulting with her. She ended up having her nurse call me and tell me that she recommended not having it out at this time. I thought that was alittle strange that she recommended me not to when before she had said it was my choice. My endo thinks I should have it out if it keeps growing. He also said I could get a second opinion. Neither Dr seem to think it would affect fertility or the ability to carry a baby. I am not so sure. I had once thought I had had this for along time because I always had a pooch in that area. I just dont remember it being hard and pooching out as much as it does now. I could be wrong though. THis is not cancerous or anything.
I am just wondering if maybe it is affecting me from getting pg. They did say it probably was not but maybe they just dont know. So I am thinking of having it out. My surgeon would take it out if I wanted it out but I could also get a second opinion. I hate hate surgery with a passion and do not want another but at the same time I want it out of my body. It often feels like o pain even when I am not oing. Like a dull pain. Not bad but enough to be annoyed.
What would you do?
Forgot to say as of my last MRI it was 10 cm.

Perhaps getting that second (or third) opinion wouldn't be a bad idea and then go from there. Then you could have an outside look on the situation and perhaps feel a little more informed by a non-biased dr who's never seen you before?
I'm sorry this is so hard and the questions of what if...
I'm wondering, is it a fibroid tumor? Location could be the reason why they're not saying you have to have it removed. From my understanding when my RE was telling me about mine, said that they don't always have to be removed it just depends on where they are and how big, along with where it is doesn't mean that it has a direct result of causing losses. She assured me that it didn't (but in my mind how would she know???) anyways, yes, SECOND OPINION is my vote!
sorry for rambling

No it is not a fibroid tumor. It is a fatty tissue tumor on the abdominal wall.
Yes I think I may get a second opinion. Its just costly to go from dr to dr. My infertility Dr does not do this type of surgery or he would do it himself.

I agree about the second opinion. And in the end, do what makes you feel comfortable. If you are concerned that it is contributing to your fertility issues, then get rid of it. If you don't want the surgery (and the docs don't think it's urgent) then leave it there. Sometimes physical stuff is about mental/emotional well being, too.

I don't know, I'm really paranoid about any sort of growth/tumor, so I think I'd go straight to having it out. That's just me though.

I definately think you should get a second opinion. Arm yourself with as much information as you can, then make a decision from there.

I would get it removed. If you can feel it and you are feeling discomfort as a result, have the surgery. That is just me though.

I would just get it removed and be done with it. Is there a particular reason you don't want surgery?

Surgery makes me nervous. I have had 3 surgeries already and really just dont like them. My Dr had also mentioned that they may have to cut all surrounding tissue if it turned out to be canerous but then she said it wasnt. So it makes me think she might do un necessary cutting. If she did this it would require a skin graft and all which I am sure is very painful but my last visit to her she had told me it was cancerous or anything and shouldnt be a problem to take out. The whole thing makes me nervous. The last phone call I had she had her nurse tell me not to have it out so I was confused by that.

I think I have decided that if I dont get PG this month I am going to go ahead with the surgery. Maybe I can get it done before I have to miss ttc the next time. Doubt it but maybe. I will probably have to take a mth off in order to have it though. I have an appt on July 20th with another surgeon to get a second opinion.

I'm glad you made an appt to get a 2nd opinion, that's a great decision. I also agree that if it's causing you discomfort, then you should have it removed. Doesn't give a lot of reassurance that she said it was cancerous and then not, I would have it taken out.

I'm glad you came up with a plan! I hope everything works out so that you get a sticky BFP in no time!

I can understand about not wanting to do the surgery but it sounds like you have a good plan. I hope you get your bfp this month!

I'm glad you're getting a second opinion and I agree with your decision to have it removed if you're not pg this month. It may or may be affecting your fertility, but 10 cm and (possibly) still growing can't be good for you.
